Scan Gauge 2....Well no than.

So I tired to use my buddies Scan Gauge 2 and the car really didnt like it at all. My computer was thrown into a diagnostic loop which killed my tach, power steering , and two trouble codes. So unless someone has a fix I think its a "No Go" like Cruze owners. Oh well :banana: I'm still happy.

Since the only apparent reason you offer for using the 2 is ready availability, perhaps an attempt to use the UltraGauge or a SG1 is in order.

I used a SGII in my 12 Sonic 1.4T for almost a year with zero issues.

The car was off when I plugged it in. The car run normally for about 15 sec and then went What the hell are you doing to me. My gauge cluster lite up like a chirstmas tree with a dead tach and no power steering as well as the two trouble codes.

I'm going to make a video later with what happens when its plugged in. Hopefully it'll just work this time.

The only thing that ever happened to me was my speedo never came up. It just had the odo on the bottom right of the screen. Had to shut the car off and restart it. But the time before that I did some tweeks to the tune so idk hat exactly caused it

Sounds like the SG2 is using the wrong protocol. Probably thinks it's still plugged into your friend's car.

Well he bought it used from someone locally here in Milwaukee. When he tested it on his moms impala it worked just fine.

It may actually need a firmware update if it's an older one. You can send it to Linear Logic and get the latest firmware, I purchased mine many years ago and had the update done. It gives you some new gauges, features, etc.

At least check which version of firmware you have and email Linear Logic to ask if that version of firmware would have issues with a 2013 Chevy Sonic.

I had the same issue with my scangauge2. I've had it for years and it was past due for the firmware update. Linear Logic waived the update fee for me since it wasn't working with the car.

In addition to great customer service, another plus for the scangauge is that it is assembled in the US.

Just received an email from the company:

We have encountered this issue with two other customers. We found that these customers had our older circuit boards which seemed to cause the issue. The circuit board just needs to be replaced. It is an issue with the older circuit board that has the hard plastic buttons. Our newer circuit boards do not cause this issue. If you would like, please send in your ScanGauge for free repair.

Well that settles it. Not only is ScanGuage an awesome company, but just a heads up if anyone else has a sonic and an older ScanGuage.

I have had similar positive experiences with them. Well past the warranty period one of the LED backlights burned out and they repaired for free. They do seem to stand behind their product.

You can't beat Linear Logic's customer service.

The UG may show more things on the screen at once, is cheaper, and whatever else but I'd still choose the ScanGauge.
