Question for RS owners.

Are you guys getting the usual 1st to 2nd shift grind problem like a lot of owners are having? I ask because I know you guys have a different manual transmission than the normal turbos.

Alrighty...I'm beginning to think my car may have an MR5 in it vs. the grindy MZ4, Because no matter how spirited I try to shift it at 5.5k rpm and up it wont grind. Maybe another case of GM being silly like the whole "flex fuel thing".

I don't beat on it that hard, but I also have always double clutched when shifting due to learning to drive stick on a car with bad syncros. I have had speed shifting problems from 2nd to 3rd a couple times. I will swap the short shifter in and see if that helps. So far so good 7000+ miles in 3 months.

Well crap sorry to hear that.

I just wait an extra second to let the revs drop. Feels like an eternity! Doesn't happen every time though.

The gearbox/rev hang combo is probably my least favorite thing about this car.

2013 RS, 4800 miles. Tried it last night for the first time and it grinds.

I grind but not all the time. Seems to be only after the transmission oil is hotter though. I only grind after at least an hour of driving and not parking for more than a night.

I am not sure what the transmission shop used when putting the Wavetrac in, but MOTUL is recommended by Autotech (they make the Wavetrac LSD) and if I recall correctly the shop uses MOTUL, which may be why I have not experienced grind.

I'm at 9000, in a RS and it grinds sometimes but only when I shift really fast, but I also came from a firebird with stage 3 clutch so it's really easy to push the sonic clutch in compared to my firebird.

Mine grinds on the 1-2 shift, especially if I "ride" the left side of the shifter gate. If I pull the shifter straight back with absolutely no side pressure towards the left gate, it doesn't seem to grind as bad.
