Pandora issues using USB

Hey everyone. So my 2012 sonic has an annoying issue when streaming Pandora radio through my iPhone4. About 80 precent of the time, I will plug in my phone into the USB port, hit play on my Pandora app and it will either not play anything through the speakers, or it will play that one song and then stop playing the audio. The app will show that it is playing, but no sound will come out the speakers. I have noticed that it helps to have the music player turned off on the phone, but this has not completely solved the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this issue??? I searched the forums here and did not find my exact issue, mostly mylink issues, which my car does not have.

I've experienced the same problem. Actually I have never gotten Pandora to work properly in my Sonic ever.

Also, I prefer not to use my iPhone for music because I hate the extra step of plugging and unplugging everytime I drive.

My solution is a dedicated 32GB iPod that I always leave in the glove box. 32GB is more than enough space for variety, and I love that the USB inside the glovebox allows it to stay concealed.

And since I don't use the iPod for anything else, I bought a used beat-up one for super cheap. So I don't care how it looks and won't be heartbroken if it gets stolen.

You guys know Blue tooth works for music too, right? automatically starts playing when you start the car and detects your phone..

Maybe its automatic with some devices. I have to manually pair my phone as a music device to get it to play audio. Otherwise, yes.

I'm assuming you need to turn on the bluetooth on your phone? I have not tried connecting my phone via bluetooth yet. I'll give it a shot tomorrow and see if my issue is resolved. Thanks for the replys.

I was under the impression that all of the MyLink Apps only work through BT. My phone pairs automatically when I start the car up (unless I turned it off to save battery life.).

I have the same issue with my iphone and pandora. i cant stand bluetooth either, the quality is just horrid.

I can't win.

Apps on sonic only work with Bluetooth on, USB will play music on your phone not use the app to play that way.

Hey everyone, I finally got a minute to try the Bluetooth idea with my pandora issue. I got my iphone paired with the car, which was pretty easy after reading the owners manual. At first it still would not play pandora, but then I found that there is a menu that you need to go into on the pandora app which allows you to choose between streaming over the USB cable or through bluetooth. After switching over to bluetooth in the pandora app everything started working great! No more issues, and I didn't notice any sound quality issues that was mentioned. Thanks for taking the time to help me with my issues.

As long I'm typing, what is the slot below the radio controls on the dash for? It looks like a credit card holder? its right in the center of the dash? anyone know? If I don't get any responses I may start a new thread.

Hey! The Menu is in the pandora app itself. It is the 3 bars on the main screen next to the thumbs up and play button. It only shows the option to switch to bluetooth when you are hooked up via bluetooth.
