Driver's Aids

I asked this question in another thread and didn't get a response so I thought if just start a thread about it.

When enjoying "spirited driving", will there be a benefit to turning off all drivers aids? I heard that the traction control gets in the way of turbo spool when the wheels are overspinning on a wet surface. What about the stabilitrak system?

I don't want computers getting in the way of me enjoying my RS when I'm playing around, but I also don't want to turn something off that definitely should be on when I'm driving like a mad man.

Any thoughts?

Best way is to prevent Driver's Aids by requiring the passenger to wear a condom. Ba-dum-tshhhhh!

But srsly, a lot of us have disabled the undesirable Traction Control and Stabilitrak by removing the ABS fuse. But the drawback is that you will have multiple warning lights staring you in the face all the time, and if you live in a climate where ABS is beneficial, like snow or wetlands, it may be a safety concern.

You can also limit the amount of the nannies by holding down the T/C button til the light blinks and stays on (~10 sec). But that gets old if you have to do it everytime.

Yes I discovered this. Very useful thanks. What about the button next to it? It makes a weird noise like the doors are locking when I push it.

That's the child lock. It disables the rear interior door handles so children can't get into mischief. Also an excellent daterape tool. (Disclaimer: I hope the satire was obvious. Clearly rape is not a humorous topic.)

I'm guessing that since you haven't had the privilege of meeting either TC or STM that you have an auto?

If so you can probably scrape be with only turning off the TC if you're really going to get on it.

Us hard charging manual guys meet computer intervention even with TC and STM off so people like Pre and Me (not a movie) pull the ABS fuse since the system is not fully disable-able-ble.

Only ditched it once! flip flops don't work well with no ABS and wet roads. coolest 360 ever thou.....almost. lol

I must admit GM made an atrocious selection for there traction and stability control selection on this car. It'd be over intrusive for a RWD truck let alone a FWD car and without a way to fully disable it makes no sense, in a mind boggling way.

I have an RS. 6 speed.

I'm not interested in pulling the fuse. I guess from here on out I'll be turning off both aids. I can't REALLY feel a difference when I have them on vs off. If anything the majority of the "change" is in the steering. The steering seems to be more forgiving with both settings on...not exactly sure how to describe it.
