They are just showing the potential of the car. You have to remember this car will be selling to a lot of first time car owners, and young people with brand new licenses.
I for one really like the fact that they are showing off what you can do and what kind of potential they are hoping for.
With that said I will also be one who will be tastefully modifying my car when I purchase one. But please don't put me in a Civic Ricer style car.

I think that this looks great especially since Chevy is going to be trying to get more younger kids to want this car. The BBS rims are perfect and the radical difference in rim color to body color is that head turning thing they need right now. I just feel this way when you think of very odd colored rims since I am young I think of Subaru WRX/STI. It is these modifications that allow kids to build their cars like people used to back in the muscle car days. (I also can say that since I also own a 67 mustang that I built). Overall the Z spec cars could be what kids want more than paying thousands more for a AWD Subbie Wrx/Sti's.

To each his/her own for sure... but I'm going to mod the livin' crap outa' mine. Tuning/modding is more than half the fun of owning a car such as this. At least it is as far as the hatchback model is concerned. The hatch is almost a perfect candidate for the tuner/modding enthusiast. Plus, it's cheap enough that it leaves extra $$$$ just for customization.
I can see leaving the Sedan stock, with a few light/minor exceptions.
As for me, let the mods begin... the more the better! I'd be bored to death owning a sub-com if I couldn't customize her the way I like.

Leavin the sedan stock? There are many mods you can do with the sedan version that would make it look sleek!
When I get my Sonic sedan I know im gonna mod it, dont have to go overboard and make it look cheesy... just nice

Well, I didn't mean a Sedan was bad for modding. It's just that a lot of people who opt for sedans usually don't mod them.
Otherwise, as far as I'm concerned, if it's on wheels, mod the crap out of it!

Well maybe with the aveo sedan :S, but other sedans like cobalts and cavaliers i know alot of people modded those kinda cars alot.
