So here's what I'm thinking: take my injen and cutting the weird extra bend off so it looks and functions like a proper intake.

By proper job you mean smooth out the cut end and clean off any metal shavings? Yea I was planning to clean the tube inside and out when I was finished

My only concern is if it'll throw a CEL or run sh**ty due to the tune being for a normal injen intake

I'm budget tuned to run a normal injen intake. Will this throw a CEL or run bad since I'm messing with the airflow?

As long as you still have the same diameter pipe in the section where the MAF sensor is you should be alright.

Sweet. Looks like I got a new project for the weekend
I was also planning on swapping out the blue filter for a proper k&n cone.

Should be good. You also have the ECP tune which automatically corrects for changes in intakes.

I cut mine and can see an improvement.
It'll throw a code right at first but it will go any on its own. Its just learning

Good deal. It doesn't look that dissimilar from the other short ram intakes out there. I wonder if it could fit in a ddm works intake heat shield?

Yea the ddm works intake looks a little bigger diameter then my injen. If that's the case then it should fit fine in the ddm works heat shield. I'll just plug the gaps with some heat wrap.
