Shocks are great. No issues.

I am also sitting at a 1 - 1.25" front drop vs a 2" rear. This must be a difference between the ride height of a US Sonic vs a Korean Aveo. I've been contemplating cutting half a coil out of the front. LOL Will wait to get my wheels on.

The only issue so far, un-cut rear bumpstops! I need to get these shocks out and fix that. I am sure I would be a lot happier.

YMMV. Roads in AZ are generally of the smooth as glass variety, so I am not exactly taxing my suspension.

Why would you have to cut the rear bump stops? I had the company make me a custom set of front springs with the correct drop.

bump stops limit travel. Usually in a stock suspension, they have a big poly or rubber foam bushing that stops suspension movement around 4-5". Dropping your car 2" means you now only have 2" of travel.

Cutting the bump stop in half gives you an inch back. More travel = smoother ride.

I finally cut my rears. You can do it with the rear shocks in place. However, I now realize how inadequate my stock shocks are. The rear of the Sonic needs better dampers.

Correct me if I am wrong but the bump stops limit compression not full travel. With that said, a 2" drop will give less compression travel but are you limited to that same 2" on rebound?

For most people, compression travel is suspension travel. It's not like we're jumping anything. right?

Putting drop springs in will never limit droop. In my car, droop is a function of shock travel, and springs won't change the limitations of your shocks.

But I'll let you know how it goes if I take it off any \napolean sweet jumps.

Bump stops also act as progressive rate springs at the end of suspension travel.

I believe JohnT wrote an excellent post about their function, I'll see if I can find it.

Yeah, outside the Americas, they are the coveted 4x100 pcd. Like most Japanese imports, Sonics are also assembled in the Thai GM plant.

A lil OT, not too sure if spring manufacturers vary their schools of thought w/ different makes/models, but generally, H&R spring rates are usually lower/less harsh than Eibachs. H&R prefers rake stance while Eibach goes level w/c at times looks reverse rake when loaded. At least this holds true for those springs in MINIs & Bimmers.

Personally, if not coilovers, Swift, H&R, Vogtland, Eibach are the better brand options to go for.

no one makes a drop Shock for the sonic ? like a 2" drop to match the coils ... opcorn: and overall we all agree k speed as far as coils go are the lowest drop ? waiting for someone to say hey I just cut a 1/2 a coil off my stock springs and look at me im a low Bro custom for free ......... :banana:

No shocks out yet.

Can't cut the stock springs since they're a beehive shape and not straight. Once cut they'll no longer fit in the perches, especially the rears.

I bought a set of intrax drop springs for my 96 kia and for some reason they were higher than stock ?? I had to cut about a 1/4 to 1/2 coil off each spring at the wide part on the bottom and it gave it a real nice drop . although the KYB struts were stock height , so i had to drill a hole in the metal and slip a wire tie 50 lb type around the coil so they dont fall out when load is off them , also i loosened the nut on the struts when the weight was on the car then slowly raised the front and it seperated the strut and stock coil real nice no need for any spring compressor ..... not the best way to do it but I bought a set of drop springs and dont know why the dang thing was higher ??? INTRAX seemed to be a reputable CO . european I been driving the kia for years with th cut springs used the energy susp poly universal end links actually a grade 8 bolt some washers and the red poly bushings it has been fun to drive ...... fully Loaded 4 adults tires never rubbed or bottom out .......
