So I decided to give my sonic a new look, not permanent though. Decided to go with plasti dip that I've been researching for awhile. Just wanted to share if anyone else was looking at doing something similar. Here's some pics before it was started.( I know I could have just sprayed with everything attached on the car but wanted to make sure I got all the way round the headlights because of the way they are made, so I just did it the safe way to make sure)

how hard was the rings to get off?

The rears on the hatch backs come off extremely easy, the chrome rings are just decorative.
Both on the hatch and sedan there are just a few bolts holding the taillights on.
The headlights, however, are completely different.
To get to both the headlights and the chrome rings, properly, you need to take off the whole front bumper to get to the headlight assembly.
The chrome rings are held on by tabs and one screw on the bottom which is impossible to get to while the headlights are still on the car.
Other members have simply broken the tab off by that screw to get the rings off, but I prefer not to break $h!t so when I do it I will either do it the right way or I will try to use this Fiero Dew Strip Tool that I bought for my Fiero.
It is just a Phillips head bit welded onto a narrow shaft in order to gain clearance in small areas.

Still, I'm going to try and use that tool I linked too and see if I can get those rings off with the bumper on

Unfortunately there isn't enough space between the chrome ring and the base of the headlight assembly to get the tool in there...
Some members claim that they just broke off the tab that is attached to the screw and the remaining tabs hold the ring on without a problem, but I'm not at that point yet.
