Kicker Stereo Upgrade Installed w/Pics!

Just installed the kicker stereo upgrade in a 2013 Sonic RS.

Kicker P/N: FF3SO13SAMY (2013 and newer with mylink)
GM P/N: 19119147
Price $839.20
Purchased from: Shop Chevy Parts dot com

Install took about 2 hours and the sound quality is very good. The front stage is clean and dynamic and the bass response is good. The only thing missing is a volume knob for the sub. The bass on the headunit had to be turned down to keep the sub from being overwhelming. I'm real picky and I'm satisfied with the upgrade for the price.

There are 2 other GM part numbers available:

2012 Sonic with mylink: 19119232

I believe they are all the same price.

That's a lot of $$$ considering what you are getting. Too bad the sub wasn't designed to sit flush below the cargo cover.

I considered it but it was way too expensive for what you get. I was able to change all the door speakers with Alpines, add a Kicker ZX350.4 amp and a Pioneer 10" sub for $500.00 including all installation hardware.

I would be interested in hearing what it sounds like, but not over $800.00 interested.

Pretty sure that's just the sub for $700...

I checked out that link and I think it's just the sub for $700. Crutchfield charges $1250 for the package I have.

I know I could have done better, but it's done and I'm enjoying it. I like not having to hack into everything and rip out stuff I've already paid for. It takes me days to do an install because I'm such a perfectionist, plus I would have ended up paying $2,000+ for high end stuff. This way was better for me at this time. This 2 hour install was a weird experience! Done already?!? It's still the same day I started! lol...

Yep, you're right. Crutchfield should sell that with some Vaseline. I looked at that option because of the integration but decided to go a different route. Since it's tuned for the stock speakers and they are paper I know where you can get a set almost new for spares.

Nice that you did the install yourself! :thumbup: I think it's funny how people are quick to dismiss & make fun of the Kicker system. Hell yes, my speakers are paper coned, and I still use a pencil when I write!
I just wanted to add - if you're brave enough to ditch your spare tire, your sub will fit nicely just using a cinch strap and some padding. You lose the thin paperboard floor over the spare tire area, but your cargo floor will now fit and everything will be hidden.

Regarding the sub output, there isn't a gain control on the sub amp to dial it back?
I'm interested in the system, even though people here poo poo it. The simplicity of the install, lack of cutting/splicing wires, and the fact that it's dialed in for the specific application (in this case Sonic) are very appealing.

I am very happy with my KICKER upgrade. I replaced the factory speakers with some KICKERs as well and the clarity is much improved. I applied HUSHMAT to the doors, rear deck and the pan in the trunk which really tightened the car up and reduced road noise a ton.

I also got mine for $734.00 and a day later SHOPCHEVYPARTS jacked the price up.

My buddy that I carpool with has renamed my car CLUB SONIC since I have done this upgrade.

Hey curious if either of the kicker upgrade systems will work in a 2013 sonic lt with 6 speaker premium stereo? Premium stereo isnt as premium as I was hoping for.

It should - that's what my car has and I'm using both the amplifier and the powered sub.

wow 839. talk about getting ripped. just saying I got 2 12'' kicker L7s with protective grills with a 1800 watt amp and 2 6x9 cerwin vega speakers in the rear tray for 750...I saw that but the **** is way over priced. mind you I went big but one 10 and amp would be half the price if not less

I'm really considering this but ahhhh that price. Im mostly interested because it looks like I could install it myself since its like plug in and jam. I just want a little nice boom....a little boom for $700-800...no.

I have the Kicker Bass Station 10" sub, installed by Best Buy. I think it was either $299 or $349 plus $100 for the install. I imagine one could install on their own but being color blind I could not be sure if I could. There are an awful lot of wires with different colors involved.

The all in ones we sell are nice sincve they come with all the wires you need. They are a pretty simple install.

I do not believe the title of this thread was: "Give me your opinion on how much I paid for my stereo upgrade."
I believe no one got pissy, nor nowhere near "all pissy" - I just asked if you felt better after getting all of that information off of your chest.

It certainly looks like you would say the entire thing in one sentence, without taking a breath, or so that's how your writing makes it look.
