Trading up from the 2012 Sonic to 2013 Sonic RS? Thoughts and Concerns...

As I decipher and think about the posts from other members, I like your car. You got what I wanted, black except its a hatch,, 1.4turbo w 6speed manual. Same name for our cars BTW

Actually no, I just thought with some tint and black wheels the car would look like a shadow when it goes flying past someone
I didn't find out about that character until I did some research.

Its a real simple decision. When the RS comes out, figure out how much itll cost you to add the same features to your current car. Then see how much itll cost to trade up. I was in the same boat with my first car. I am currently 21 and have always had a good job. My first car was an Evo, I was literally living pay check to pay check trying to figure out how to put gas in the car. Best advice, while youre young work on not having debt and looking to get out on your own. No sense in taking a financial hit just because "you can". Keep what you have and make it your own, only thing cooler than owning a cool car is owning one you dont have payments on. Just some advice, the decision is still yours.

I understand and respect that completely.
The only thing is I'm stuck in a 1.8 auto, and I want the 1.4 Turbo STD, but because my dad helped me with the downpayment, I'm sitting in his car.
Really wanting to trade up for MY car.

What I would suggest, since I also did that with my Evo. I would save up as much as possible! I mean as much as you can! When the 2013 comes out, if you want the 1.4L turbo, offer to pay your dad back for the down payment and if you have extra put it towards the new car. Or see if your dad will take the car back as a daily driver. Just an idea, I will advise, if its going to be your first manual. Save for a clutch, whether you know how to drive it or not with mods youll probably want to do. You will need a clutch down the road. Most people MOD turbo cars then wonder why they need a new clutch after. LOL. Hope I could help a little, I wouldnt want anyone to make the same mistake I did when i bought my Evo lol.

I appreciate what you're saying, but:
The only reason my dad helped me was because he wanted me to have the autotragic... it was an extra grand and he was so positive that I was going to get sick of a manual he threw some money it.

and I plan on picking up a beater this summer and have a few of my buddys teach me how to drive around the yard in (12 acres), thus proving to my dad that i can, and wont get sick of driving a standard

I appreciate your thoughts on the matter
