The other day I got above 90 miles per gallon on my 1.8 automatic... But I was kinda drafting off this car and my foot wasn't on the pedal... If only 90 mpg was possible

That's what I call a "rolling reset", completely worthless for measuring fuel economy but it's neat to see how high of numbers you can get. I regularly get infinete gas mileage when slowing down (999.99 mpg on the UG)
It would be nice to get 90mpg per tank, FTW.
Here are a few tips to get good fuel economy out of your Sonic:
Stay at or below 75 MPH on interstate highways
Accelerate normally, but not aggressively
Slow down way ahead of a red light and coast to it, do not drive to it at high speed and then brake heavily at the last second (I see this all the time)
Avoid jackrabbit starts and full throttle acceleration
Use major brand gas (BP, Chevron, Mobil, Sunoco, etc.)
About every 3k miles put a bottle of Chevron Techron into a full gas tank and run until nearly empty. This will keep your fuel injectors clean.
Fill up your gas tank when 1/3 full. This helps to extend life of the electric fuel pump which is cooled by fuel. Do not run the tank almost empty for this reason, as the pump may overheat
Change your oil regularly, same for the air filter
Keep the tires inflated to proper pressure
Warm up the engine after a cold start before moving the car
Periodically check your brakes to make sure you do not have a dragging caliper on your disc brakes, or a dragging brake shoe on rear drum brakes
If you have a manual transmission, avoid shifting over 3000 - 3500 RPM
This works for me.
Warming the engine up is pointless and wastes fuel.
Fuel injector cleaner is worthless.
That is all I have to add.
