Sonic Terminology please

I'm new to the whole turbo thing and new cars, 2007 is the newest thing i've owned and wow have they changed, and I'm getting a little cornfused on the terminology y'all are using I think I know what BOV means (Blow off Valve) ?? I want to make sure i'm doing it right, I've seen multiple abbreviations and have no clue what your talking about, "I know the common ones" RTFM, he he, but please let me in on your dirty secrets, also is there any hidden secrets on the Sonic like pushing buttons in a sequence to turn on/off features, I know on my truck before I put the system in if you push the radio buttons at the same time you would get eng readings, dome button 5 times, stuff like that,

do you have mylink? I do, and from there I can control functions like lighting duration, autolock, volume controls....but that's pretty standard stuff. I'm sure you can do it from the stock radio too...

I didn't start the thread but I did do a long response post in it, tried to nail most of them down.

I don't know many dirty little secrets, the only one I can think of is that you can tap the traction control button to turn traction control off, or you can hold it down for a few seconds and turn off stability control as well. Since I haven't really had any argument with SC I don't usually bother. There are folks who hate the systems so much they remove the ABS fuse, which disables not only ABS, but TC and SC as well.

What else... oh, you can also do a lot from your radio (mine is the Connectivity package, Mylink has controls built into it too), the one I particularly like is making it so my driver's side door automatically unlocks whenever locked except from the key fob. I never want to be able to leave my key in the car, having to have the key in my hand to lock the door is great.

I agree with this. I don't know why because I don't spend lots of time looking at it.

I just read in Modified about the "peddle dance" which made me giggle. Seems there's a way in some cars to turn off the nannies by a sequence of peddle pushing and brake pulling. We have a handy button that turns them "off enough" to make daily driving more bearable, but the track stars have pulled their ABS fuse to fully disarm the nannies.

Funny enough the Tractors/shuttle semis at a local intermodal dock have a governor that limits the speed to 25-30 mph. A number of guys figured out a start sequence that would disable the Gov until the next key cycle.

Someone reported a guy flying thru the docks, of course he denied it and pointed out the governor and showed it worked fine. Well management was at a loss for awhile because after reviewing some security tapes they'd see a few drivers going faster than they were supposed to. BUT they couldn't do anything since the governors made it "impossible" to go that fast and when they examined the trucks they worked properly. They were scratching their heads for awhile lol.

I was waiting for that as well. I hit 100 MPH once and all of a sudden there was a FFX county police checkpoint causing a traffic jam. I swore up and down OnStar called them and they shut 495 down looking for me.

This actually happened with TomTom. They sold vehicle speed statistics to law enforcement who then started setting up speed traps in areas where vehicles were most likely to speed.
