I've been emailing back and forth with Pat Moro, the driver of the Grc Sonic, and co owner of pmr motorsports. He has informed me that Pmr is developing performance parts for the 1.4t and 1.8 motors and is open to suggestions for parts that need to be improved. I need a list of such parts and what is wrong with them that they need to be developed. ALL INPUT WOULD BE GREAT!

Currently he has informed me that they are working on a turbo upgrade kit and a stage rally kit he called "R2"

1.8 cams, pistons, rods
F17 (5 speed on the 1.8) short throw.

Maybe a bigger throttle body.

Skid plates would be fantastic also


With the manual trans, both m32 and f17, utilize a "plastic" type shifter fork tip. They wear fast or fall off causing grinding and destroys the trans. Brass tips would be a great improvement

Cams and rods would be the biggest things for the 1.8. Pistons are fairly easy. If I had all the correct measurements I could have a set in my hands in 2-3 weeks, including being coated on the skirts and tops.

They'd be wise to get a jump on 1.8 stuff. There is a huge lump money out there yearning to be spent on 1.8 stuff.

New valve springs, or just shims... up barely north of 200 hp we run into valve float with the stock springs.

Armrest fix that allows height adjustment, or else a substitute that fits into the rear cup holder or something... at any rate, one that doesn't suck unless you just happen to have the correct elbow-above-asterisk distance.

Driver selectable CAI/WAI

Louvered grill

Full belly plate

Replacement seats; lightweight "race" set, fold flat "Fit style" passenger seat. Pushbutton removable seats.

Race harness

Roll cage

Streamlined headlight caps

Selectable exhaust/no exhaust system (illegal in PA, who knows about your state)

RS style steering reprogramming (available now if you can scam your dealer into doing it... but most won't)

Just off the top of my head. Doubtless tons more stuff we'd love to see, keep 'em coming!

Some racing harness are dot approved and work with oem seats.
I run one made by schroth. Fantastic product.
