CX Racing FMIC kit

this is my first post on DIY...got tons of pics... this is my 2013 RS fmic swap with the cx racing kit. Very simple if you dont have an rs...this kit seems to be built for the ltz... because the fog lights come down farther and rub on the hot and cold side, so some slight modification has to be made to the bumper fog light housing. took about 2 hours total. ... any questions, feel free to ask.

Step 1: remove bumper
Step 2: remove all old rubber hose and ic
Step 3 (RS ONLY) remove fmic crash bar (will make sence later)
Step 4: mount new fmic using hardware used to hold up the skid guard
Step 5: work from throttle body back, also easier to attach all of the cold side and wiggle it threw
Step 6: instal hot side
Step 7: wiggle everything straight
Step 8: tighten all of the bolts and t clamps
Step 9 (RS ONLY) you need to shave down the lower parts of your fog lights because the new pipes are a more dirrect air flow and don't have the same bends and twists as the rubber hoses, lots of bumper movement and cuss words will be used in this step.
Step 10: attach bumper, take pics, RE TUNE!!!, smile and have a beer! (Or soda if under 21) you now have a bad a55 fmic, I do not recommend removing the lower grill, that would be dumb. Rocks hit that

Looks like that UICP makes oil changes a royal PITA


By rights if you remove that UICP you should really boost leak test the car once it is back together

Well my first numbers are in.... 159whp/210wtq is what I was at, I'm now at 154whp/189wtq... We think it might be 1 of 3 things, 1. Boost leak on first 90 degree coupler, 2. The charge pipes are hitting frame causing false knock. 3. Bad gas... Will update soon

I built a custom set and the easiest way I found not to hit the frame rail (metal to metal anyways) was to put a piece of slightly larger tubing coupler over the pipe in the area that it may hit the frame rail.
You will also reduce the chance of the frame eventually rubbing through the piping and causing a major boost leak.

Ok, update! I finally did a boost leak test and found that the boost leak was coming from the boost sensor that goes into the charger pipe that connects to the throttle body. Apparently the stock o-ring does not fit in the hole the drilled, it's too small, so I put a new o-ring on the sensor, and botta bing, full 17/16lbs... Now I'll turn up the boost and post my new results

Set of sockets, torqx bit to remove the bumper, no fluids to drain, patience... And a thesaurus for new swear words

ok, an update! so i found a major issue with this kit, the turbo outlet coupler is not the right size, parts should be here tomorrow to fix it, and it will be retuned, will update numbers soon, feeling optimistic still

So major discovery was made on the Facebook group, so I called them to see if they would help... The sonic cx intercooler is a 9.5" tall and is a fin type... So I had them send me the 7" tall bar type.. Way better. Will post moar numbers soon!
