Since it has come up in another thread I figure we can get something going here.

Can we make this a place to post about what setups different people have been running for auto cross and how they have worked with the car? I know auto cross season is still a few months away, but the sooner we can gather information the better.

I guess a format along the lines of this:

class you run in

wheel specs
tire (make/model/size/pressure)
strut/shock
springs
front sway bar
rear bar
alignment specs

Auto cross setup

1.8 5 speed

I run stf

See sig for mod list

Oem hankook 195/65/15

I start at 38 front 40 back

After first run front goes up to around 42 and I bleed them down.

I run rs struts and shocks with b&g lowering springs with rear brace



I will be running 205/60/15 goodyear eagle gt this season

does anyone make an adjustable damper strut yet for us without going coilover? I am talking like Koni sports

My issue with Koni is that some applications require that you hack apart a factory strut and slip their insert into it. This is not a proper way to do things and I feel it is also very unsafe. I have been around several vehicles with the insert style and they all had issues with the one retaining bolt, keeping the insert in place, actually staying in place. A lot of them also start to bell out the factory strut body that they are mounted in. Its a half assed solution at best.

This is what I ran last year for two events, but I do plan to make some changes this year.

no rear bar
From what I recall the alignment was stock toe but about -1.5* camber

ZZP highflow cat
2.5" exhaust

This years hopeful set up will be


Hopefully still in STF, but maybe not

Sparco Assetto Gara 17x7.5 or 16x7
BFG Rival 225/45/17 or 225/50/16
RS shocks and struts
Eibach Pro kit
Hopefully BNR front bar
DDMW rear insert
probably keep the stock toe but move camber to -2*

Other modifications done

I want to do a 6 speed swap but that may move my class. Some other changes I want to try will move me for sure.
DDMW intake will be going in soon as well

stock for now, but plan to replace with RS shocks and struts

DDM insert and ZZP rear sway bar
Will be going for very slight toe in and -1.5 to -2* of camber if I can find a shop to do it.

Fifteen52 Tarmac's 17x8et30 (To be Installed)

Michelin Pilot Super Sports 225/45/17 (possibly BFG Rivals) (To be purchased)

Eibach or B&G Springs suggestions are welcome for springs (To be purchased)

DDM Rear Brace (To Be purchased)

(Same engine mods) with addition of a test pipe that is currently installed.

Custom brake ducting and air intake ducting.

I will edit my post if I add anything between now and the beginning of the season.

I could make the hankook work for both auto and track cross. But no where near the best tire

Austin, the wheels and test pipe will bump you out of STF.

17x7.5 is the wheel limit and you need at last a 100 cell cat.

Be careful doing it that way. You could find yourself in a very competitive class with no experience with a car not optimized for the class.

Honestly I just want to have fun. I wouldn't even care about placement.

I've probably got enough mods to screw myself already.

shoot... I knew with wheels I'd be pushing the limit... but the test pipe I wont be able to sneak by.. :/ darn

I get pissed off at the one cross. A Mazda 3 always kicks my ass by like 2 sec. But he is also running track tires

But when I go to the other one I race at. I have won.

ZZP high flow will be legal. Youmay be able to sneak through in a regional event with the wheels though.

I want to 6 speed swap my car butI have to really think about it now. I will be out of STF and might end up in SMF if I do the swap. I do not stand a chance in that class. There is actually a good chance that I would come in last at every event.

Smf around me has a supercharged civic that normally gets fastest time of the day

I cant compete with that. I have to go over all the rules again but I am fairly confident that some of the big things I wanted to tackle this year will move me t SMF.

SMF is the worst unless you are redic prepped for it, running slicks is just short of required.

My Cobalt is stuck there, and I hate it. It was only fun the day the class was only Cobalts and we were all on street tires, since then we were all similar. You have to watch for Civics and Type-Rs who are super prepped to just mop the floor with everyone.
