Interesting to hear about a 5 speed that's problematic... most of the reported difficulties have been with the 6.

The five speed suffers from the 1-2 and 2-3 shift grind as well.

Well of you wouldn't have taking it to the drag strip yours wouldn't grind hahaha. But ya, has the same issues but is not as common

It was warmer here yesterday and I noticed that the transmission shifts much smoother in warmer weather. I had little to no grinding.

Don't think that really counts as "a problem with the trans".

We all know its not a 4L80E......

It's my fault, I rag the **** out of my car, this time the car went from slick to dry surface while wheel hopping...
It's why I bought the extended platinum warranty that covers abuse.

and ChrisJ, this trans didn't have any nitrous hits on it.

Probably because even though you put all that stuff on your car and think you drive fast in reality you drive like an old woman.

so what killed the first two? this is like a bad review on amazon... It's a good thing a replacement costs less than $500 at the junkyard. You can throw these things away like keg cups...
