Eh. I'm tuned and my only mod is an intake and now this Bypass. I haven't noticed any change in performance one way or the other, but I'm not pushing the limits. The biggest difference, to me, is the sound and of course the "chuffing," which I find particularly grating. It only takes about 10 minutes, so it's worth a shot as the majority seems pleased, but I might just go back to normal.

Fair enough. Rarely am I going full boost and shifting before 4k. I'll play around with it a little more.

I think this mod should be called the "triple bypass" (bypass valve bypass solenoid bypass).
I did it last night while I did my IM porting and there way no was that the green-striped line was going to come off the IM. I had to cut it off, which was ok because it got plugged anyway. I'm glad I did this on the bench instead of under the car.

I also cut off the mount for the bypass solenoid:
Now I just need to seal the little passage from the vacuum tank to the intake. I planned to hot air weld it, but I may just two-part epoxy it.
This should also make removal and install a breeze, as that stupid tank is what makes the thing so hard to finagle in/out.
All that's left is a couple coats of Green and I'll have a nice little "custom intake".

Can you leave the solenoid unplugged with out getting a CEL?

So you removed the tank and the solenoid from the IM, but it's still plugged in hanging somewhere?
Totally agree about the tank being the main reason the IM won't go in/out easily.

You will get CEL if the solenoid is not plugged in.
So all you did was hook the bpv directly to the intake manifold and capped the the left open solenoid ports, correct?

I'm going to put myself through a bit of public embarassment because I'm not a handy man, and have my local shop do all my work for me (stmtuned.com) [great shop btw], but I need to ask a question, even if it makes me look dumb. Now I understand this is meant for the BPV, but say I were to install an intercooler/charge piping from MPFab, and decided to get it flanged and use a Tial Q BOV, is this something that still applies? Or is it just for people using the stock/Forge BPV's?
After doing probably a lot of unneeded research I decided to give the solenoid bypass a go. First the car is untuned and I have a stock bpv. Hose was a *itch getting off intake and solenoid so I ever so gently cut them with a razor blade. Before I started I purchased 5/32 hose from auto zone (like 5 feet for 4 dollars of the thick hose) Removed rubber elbow from solenoid and hard bpv hose. Cut me a piece a tad longer than what I cut off early. Hose clamp. Vacuum caps. Done. Power delivery was better and faster. Seen no negative effect to mpg's. Seemed to release boost faster. Over all very good. Fyi many others do this to other makes and models with turbos too.

Well I finally got some flutter today, could literally hear the BPV opening, closing, opening, closing; sounded like "fap, fap, fap, fap" lol. Happened everytime I let off the throttle after making any amount of boost. This was with the STOCK BPV plumbing.
Heard a sucking noise (not the intake) while under throttle, popped the hood and what-ya-know I'd blown a vacuum line to the BPV. Not too surprised it happened since I have over 8ft of vacuum hose, a T-fitting, hose barb, and cap plumbed in from my boost gauge testing, something was bound to pop loose eventually lol.
Thought I'd share my random experience of the day.

Yes and no. It was the 90deg elbow that connects to the BPV but I'd had it hooked into a T-fitting so I could install a boost gauge for some bypass mod testing. It wasn't intended to be permanent and was assembled as so. Didn't hold up to the several hundred miles I wasn't expecting to have it installed for.
Nothing to be concerned with the factory plumbing. But if you hear weird blow off noises when chopping the throttle It's either a popped off BPV line or an improperly done Bypass mod.
