Aftermarket hood for a chevy sonic (hatch)

Sorry if this was the wrong thread to post in but figured I couldn't go wrong posting here. I'd like to see a Mazdaspeed 3 style hood w/ hood scoop developed for the sonic hatches. Any thoughts?

It would just have to look stock. I haven't done any photo shop or anything like that but in my head it sounds pretty cool. As long as it's fuctional

I don't know for a fact but I've heard that it's because of where the alternator is located

Do they make that hood in fiberglass? Black doesn't really make the carbon stand out.

How does that hood mix with the rain. I can't imagine it being too great.

That's because they're just that... vents. They're located above the radiator discharge to vent heat and they may even improve aero by allowing engine bay air a path out other than under the car; common trick sen on exotics and race cars.

Also, how I figured it is that you dont relly want air flowing in, past the filter, and out the vents. That will do no good. You want air built up around the intake and getting sucked into the turbo. Especially if you have an aftermarket one.

The major difference here is that wind tunnel testing was done with the exotics and each tiny detail was optimized on a computer model to provide the necessary aerodynamic performance before the car even got to the wind tunnel.

No such thing was done with the hood below; the testing wasn't nearly that extensive, so I wouldn't expect any performance difference - just looks.

It's funny how much something like this can change an opinion on a product. It does indeed seem like haphazard/random placement, until you look at from a different perspective.

I thought it was odd at first until I opened my hood and noticed what was around that location. After seeing the radiator fan there the light bulb came on lol.

My reason for liking the vented hood had less to do with aerodynamic performance gains and a lot to do with an efficient way of getting rid of heat in the engine bay. If one wonders how effective that can be, just hold your hand over the hood vents after a little bit of spirited driving: the heat pours out as if a fan is pushing it.

Vents on one side and not both I attribute to the location of the alternator.

As for durability: I have had mine on since January 2012 and it is holding up great.
