With a low pressure set, you should not have any problems. And a f17 will not handle much more as it is. A m32 swap is required for more power


My water pump already has a double pulley, but I would imagine that would be rough on the water pump

I was looking into it further and itd probably be easiest to just have a double pulley made to replace the current one on the water pump.

On another topic, nobody makes any performance rods, pistons, sleeves, cranks, cams, retainers, for the 1.8......what can we do?

The water pump will not last long with that kind of load on the bearings. Rods, pistons, cams, and retainers would have to be custom made. We have an iron block, only need a sleeve if you gouge a cylinder wall and need it repaired.

Well back in the day i had a d16 and it had a bad crank and i had a spare d15 and ask this dude i know that owns a honda shop what would happen and he said it would make it a stroker and it would be better for boost than before. I never did it so im not sure.

Yes/no, not a stroker. Stroker is a longer stroke. Yes, better for boost. Lower compression ratio= more boost

Rod length doesn't affect stroke, the journal offset on the crankshaft does. Rod length can have an impact on power delivery, with longer rods gaining a smidge more topend and also lowering piston bore wear thru less side loading.

I have no clue about the auto,

Stock internal engine should be above to hold up to 5 psi reliably.
But I am also conservative and don't want to blow a engine right after dumping money into it like that

I believe im about to start a new job that pretty much rains $. So i was thinking of contacting Darton and see how much a sleeve job is, and contacting Crower for the head and cams, and maybe eagle for the rods. Ill just get a 1.8 from a junkyard or ebay and build it. I wanna be able to go like 25-30ish psi and not be able to worry about it.

Boost numbers are not everything. It's all about cfm.

Your looking at a grande for a spare motor, I would keep rods and pistons and crank in the same company. But I'm picky like that


You will have sooo much into it, it would be easier/ cheaper to buy a faster car stock

Why not check into block material and construction first. Why would you sleeve an Iron block does not have a gouged cylinder wall?

Gouging a cylinder wall in the case of adding boost to a newish engine that's otherwise fairly reliable typically means a broken connecting rod being jammed into it.

I get what your saying...when I sleeves I ment like performance sleeves, they remove the stock sleeves and I believe put thicker wall sleeves that can handle the boost.

We have an iron block. You only put a sleeve in if you gouge the wall. In stock form we do NOT have sleeves. My guess is that is why you cant find any for the engine.
