Nice, Ive been an nvidia guy forever, i havent had any experience with amd radeon, but your right, ati radeon was HORRIBLE. Ive got a hybrid drive in my box now, i like it, quick boots, and for gaming it doesnt make a huge difference since in most games your stuck waiting on the slowest loader anyway.

I stopped being a "brand guy" back in 2003 when Nvidia came out with the 5900 Ultra. I bought that, instead of the ATI 9700pro which killing everything at the time and for less money. I ended up with a POS $520 video card that was being constantly beat by a $400 ATI card. I sold the card on ebay and bought a 9700pro. I then bought I think a 9800XT followed by an X800XTPE.

Because of the 5900 Ultra I ended up switching from Intel to AMD for a while as well. To this day I don't care whos name is on the product I care how it performs for the money.

Kinda funny, at one time I was 100% an Intel and 3DFX guy. Wouldn't buy anything else.

Agreed. My first choice is usually AMD over Intel or Nvidia. That has nothing to do with brand names and everything to do with "bang for your buck". Recently upgraded GPUs in one of my rigs...right around the time when buzz about the Titan was at a high. A $1k card? No thanks. 7950s had dipped below $200 for a short time. I snatched 2 of them up for crossfire and got similar performance for about $375. Would I prefer having one card and the lesser hassles associated with it? Of course. Was that worth the $625 difference to me? Not a chance.

I don't know about right now, but just a few years ago Intel was the better buy for processors. When I bought my I5 750 AMD didn't have a thing that could touch it price wise or heat wise. I think the best thing AMD had to offer was the 955 BE and 965 BE. Forget when but I want to say I bought it Sep 2009.

My rig before that has an AMD 6000+ in it, still running.

Hands down Intel over AMD when it comes to CPU. AMD still competes with most chips coming in under $200. I'm currently running a fx-8350 BE (vishera 8-core 4.0ghz stock) in the rig with the 7950s. Over clocked to 4.8ghz on a corsair h110. Outstanding for a CPU that costs about $175. Granted...it will be outperformed by an i7 and possibly a high end i5, but on a sub-$200 CPU budget...it is a solid competitor.

As for processors, I stuck it out with AMD for as long as I could. I got burnt on intel many years ago when they had a recall I switched over to AMD and stayed loyal for years. Last AMD was my 940 Quad Core. I still have that as my HTPC tied to my 40" TV. I'm on it now.

AMD Beat up on Intel for a few cycles, but Intel roared back. I had to give up my loyalty to AMD (processors only) and go with Intel for the better power and power savings. Even though the numbers were far better for the Intel's, I felt somethings were still faster on my AMD's. Even older ones.

The gaming rig I made had the 2500K and an ASROCK mbd. Nice board that can do crossfire, but With the card I had, It didn't seem to need it.

I have the 3770K now, but I use that more for web design. Video editing.

I bought a Creative 12MB Voodoo2 back in I think 1998 for $320 and had it connected with a Matrox Millennium because you still needed a 2D card.
