I originally wanted a new 2012 LS automatic sedan. Liked the standard painted aluminum wheels and the hand cranked windows. I liked it's features and did not miss those that it lacked. But I was coming from a 19 year old Plymouth Sundance. I did not like the ugly center stack but knew that could be fixed.
The wife approved except for one thing. She insisted it have a CD player. In 2012 it was an option. But in 2012 the time was not yet right.
Then came 2013. The LS no longer had nice wheels and CD was no longer an option. The time was right so we went with an LT.
I have learned to tolerate the increased niceness.

I wanted an LS, but I had to have the turbo. I certainly did not want the LTZ, and the RS wasn't an option but I would not have wanted that either, and no, not even if the price was the same for each. I've spent more money in mods than the difference between my LT and an RS, it's not the money, it's the weight. If they all cost the same and weighed the same, yeah, I'd probably have gone RS, it's a little better look. But I think I would have swapped out the transmission with an LT/LTZ one.
I want the RS steering mod. And I'm pissed that the only way to get it is to make a backroom deal with a shady chevy mechanic, mostly because I don't happen to know one.
I want heated seats. OK, I don't, but my girl does, and so now I'm looking into that.
I want the RS fog lamps. Didn't want any fogs, but having driven a car with them recently I realize that was a mistake, they do help in certain conditions. Don't like the look of them on the LT... but the RS ones are less repugnant.

I'll throw a "want" out there. I wish GM cars lit the tail lights up super bright when the fog lights are on and I wish Americans didn't run their fog lights when there isn't bad fog.
I'm tired of having European cars blinding me on clear nights from the bright tail lights and yet I feel the safety of this feature should not disappear.
Should have just bought an aveo. Lol

When I got my car in 2012, the dealer only had 1 LTZ and it was manual. I can't drive manual I couldn't wait for them to order and ship me one because I had gotten into an accident and only had a week to get a car.. But ironically enough, I was gonna trade in my car I totaled on a sonic.

When I do, they are usually the LT. I suspect that most people buying Sonics are doing it based on cost and normally the LTZ is starting to get into the same price point as some of the lower priced trim levels of bigger cars.
Personally, I wanted a car the size of the Sonic and, coming from a BMW, I wanted something nice (17" rims, fake leather, etc.) to offset the fact that I was buying a cheaper car. As it is, the interior bits on the Sonic, while I like them, are not as nice as the BMW (which makes sense as these are in two completely different classes). So getting the mylink and the "leather" helps offset that for me.
With regard to price, I managed to get a smoking deal ($16K, brand new for a 2013) so in that regard I think it was totally worth it (and cheaper than a 2014 LT)

I purchased an LTZ sedan this week. Pretty nicely equipped for a small car and some of the little extras on the LTZ (chrome door handles, 17" 5-spoke wheels, trunk spoiler) made the LTZ more appealing to me than the other trim levels. Mine is a 1.4 turbo with an auto trans.
I wish we got the rear fog light that the European models get.
I got a better deal on the LT than an LS model would have cost (the rebate was only $ 500 on the LS, but $ 1500 on the LT). Besides, I like the alloy wheels, cruise control, power windows, locks, mirrors, CD player, and remote keyless entry that the LT model has as standard equipment. The dealer I bought my Sonic from had a 2013 LS sedan as well and after all incentives it was priced about $ 100 more than the LT sedan I bought. Both had the 1.8 engine, 5 speed manual transmission.

We got an LT hatch 1.8 auto. Only thing I wish we would've gotten is a sunroof, but the wifey didn't want it and it WAS her car until I took it over and got her a new rav4. It was a $1000 option, and I recently found out I can have a custom full roof sunroof installed for ~$1200, so I don't feel so bad now.
As for the turbo, mine is a 2012 and I've seen a lot of issues with the 2012 turbos. Had it been 2013, would've gotten a turbo. But I don't mind timing belts, and the 1.8 is a super solid engine.

There have been a few LTZ Sonics with 1.4 turbo, 6 speed manual in showrooms here in Florida, but they cost considerably more than what I paid for mine. This was just a work commuting car for me, so I tried to get it cheap. also, LTZ comes standard with the My Link radio, which deletes the CD player. Mine has just a regular stereo with the CD player, which I prefer. I found a 2013 left over LT turbo, 6 speed sedan here in Florida, but it had the MyLink radio and with the dealer fee it would have been about $ 2k more than the one I got. And for some reason, the turbo car had no spare tire.

The cars I saw have already been sold because these were 2013 models and I saw these a few months ago. I saw an orange hatch LTZ turbo manual at Automall Chevy dealership near Miami at that time. Another just like it was in stock at Rosner Chevrolet in Melbourne, FL. There was also a turbo 6 speed manual '13 gray LT sedan at Bill Buck Chevrolet in Venice FL until about three weeks ago. They had great incentives in January and February 14 on all leftover '13 models. In some cases, over $ 4k off the sticker, and more if you had a GM card rebate on top of that.
All hatchbacks come with a spare tire. Only 1.8 liter engine sedans come with a spare tire. No logic here at all.

I dont see to many LTZ's either I usually see 1.8 LT's. But do see a RS every day at work because my buddy owns it lol.

My dealer had plenty of hatch and sedan LTs. They had two RS models. No LTZ.
Funny enough, my white LT hatch has "LTZ" on the rear, but it's actually an LT. It must have been an error at the factory. Kinda cool.
