if I remember correctly, you can either be stock tune or ECP tuned, but not regular trifecta tuned.

Because you and I know that "ECP" simply isnt possible with the ECM...
The idea works in theory to some extent, but a real re-tune will always net better gains.

15 ft lb. They are rubber o ring type seals, so torque isn't all that critical.

Yes this mod. Is great. It pulls all the way to the fuel cut off. Combine it with the bypass mod. And it changes the behavior of the car.

a dremmel would work as well, just buy the correct grinding bit.

Even if you completely blew up the engine, and it was taken apart and rebuilt (very unlikely from a warranty standpoint, usually they are completely replaced) I highly doubt that anyone would notice the runners of the intake manifold ground down. And I doubt even further that even if they did notice, would bring it to anyone's attention and make a big deal of it.

Words like "unlikely" and "doubt" are very worrisome to owners with warranties. I think this warranty talk will case to case from dealer to dealer.
I have had some dealers who care less about mods, like now with my sonic they love seeing whatever new mods I've done.
But in the past I have had dealers tell me off because of simple installs like CAI or even radio installs.
Maybe times are a changing or dealers want to retain customers. I don't think there will ever be a master sheet of what does or doesnt void warranty.

Was about to try this mod next weekend. Instead of grinding I was going to use a hot knife I have similar to the link below. Have used items like this for making cuts in trim, panels, bumper covers, etc... and it worked pretty well. Not as messy either.

EDIT:
All seems well now. No bypass solenoid code and I cleared the p0300 misfire code. I'll see if it comes back at all this week, but the Sonic is running perfectly. I can definitely tell the difference in the SOTP dyno, lol.

My friend and I just completed this mod along with the bypass valve bypass on '13 1.4t sedan.
I am on a stock tune, which I read shouldn't be a problem.
Car seems to be running fine. She started right up, sounded normal, but the began to stumble a bit at idle. At this point, I got a flashing CEL, which eventually turned solid. We drove the car to get the codes pulled and while it didn't seem to feel as fast as it used to, it seemed to wake up after about 15 minutes of driving.
As to the two codes she is throwing (sorry, don't have the actual number):
1. Cylinder 2 misfire
2. Something that specifically mentioned as coming from the turbo's BPV solenoid, which seems odd to me as it was bypassed at this point.
But as it sits, the car is running great. Hard pulls all the way to fuel cut off. First time I really got some enjoyment from the button shifting on my auto, lol.
Anyone have any thought on the code? We cleaned extremely well as we went, but is it possible that some of plastic particulate made it's way into cylinder 2 and fouled up the plug or something of that nature?
Anyways, that for the great DIY guides, they are great for a broke college student like myself.

Clear all the codes using a code reader and see if they come back. I had several codes but once cleared none have come back.

OK, so the bypass valve solenoid code went away on it's on, and rather quickly. I checked all the usual suspects for a p0300 misfire, and everything was in it's correct place.
So, seeing as my Sonic feels/appears to be running fine, I cleared the code and will look to see if it returns throughout the next several days.
