A friend of mine had one too. I rode in it once when it was working. He was like check this out, steps on throttle, then it lost power and we drove home in limp mode.

I don't know the customer base of the soul but they're probs need for speed fanatics, I always see them racing around in their toaster ovens.

Except, because I live in a house I can crank the sound way up when I place it and vibrate the floor all I want.

That's cool. I don't have to pay property taxes, my out of pocket cost is less, I don't live in a bland house and I can move any time I want, and the most I'd lose would be a $300 deposit.
Oh and my roof was completely replaced last year all for free and the same with my a/c unit that broke down once. Total cost for me? Zero.

I don't live in a bland house, and yes I pay property taxes but so do you, it's part of your rent payment. Genius.
Your out of pocket cost is likely more, regardless. Typically half of your rent goes to taxes, the other to the landlord and that half is throw away, gone, like it never existed. Once my mortgage is paid off I only pay taxes, and own the house and land.
Did I mention I can play NFS 5 with the sound as loud as I want, even at 3AM?

Most mainstream Nissans are blobby and swoopy. Look at the Altima, Maxima, Juke, Versa, Versa Note, etc.
I know two people who own Souls: a gay classmate from college who acted like he could be a cast member on the Jersey Shore, and our crazy cat lady neighbor.

I know one person that has a Soul. He bought the cheapest one he could find for I think $13k or $14k at the time. He is a welder and needed something cheap to drive around.

Yea, it really does have wide appeal. It's a reliable cheap econobox with a ton of character and space. Skinflints will buy it, people who want something funky will buy it, etc.
I kinda like them, but the manual is only available on the lowest trim. Steel wheels and no cruise control. No thanks.

That was my beef when we looked at buying one for my wife. Besides the dealers sucking, the cost of a decent Soul was more than a 1.4 Sonic LT. I had even said that to one of the salesmen and he said "you can't compare it, its a different car" and my response was "yeah, a better car!' and we left. That's sort of how the wife ended up with the Cruze. I wanted her to get a Sonic, she didn't want two Sonics, I donno.

New Sentra's are really nice in my opinion. I really am not a fan of those beaded LEDs on the head/tail lights though. But the only one I'd even consider is the base model seeing as its the only one with the manual transmission. All the other trims are CVT it looks like. I'm surprised Nissan did away with the SE-R Spec V.. 'Must have not sold as well as it's competition - Civic Si.

Yea I see very few last gen Sentras on the road, much less Spec-Vs. There are only so many buyers in the FWD hot-compact market; with the ST twins' recent surge, I'm sure Nissan figured it wasn't worth chasing such a minuscule share of the market. Although I do recall seeing a Sentra NISMO concept last fall. Who knows.

I've never driven one but I've always seemed to read positive reviews about them. I think the biggest downfall is just being too pricey for those sports inspired trims. But! They do hold their value well, as do most Japanese cars.

I like the Soul as well. It's not as cool as the Sonic, but it's definitely bigger and the cost is about the same.

It's barely bigger, slower, and costs more if you include any of the options that the Sonic already has.

Yeah, that's why I went with the Sonic. I like the look of the Soul, but the features were lacking. I'm thinking that for my next car I might get a lower trim (I do want cruise) with a manual. I'll upgrade the radio and rims myself since those are the things I care the most about.
