Hiya, been part of the community here for about a month and been flipping though endless articles on how to my upcoming RS. opcorn:

But out of nearly 300+ pages I found only 2 pages that have step-by-step articles on installations on various things.

So I would like to suggest, specially for people like me who found this forum and its awesome mods lifestyle, to have a How-To section just like that, where its just the things we want to see and how to do it, step by step.

Although the articles already are awesome, it does get frustrating seeing something like 'LED install guide', clicking it, looking though 8 pages to only see pictures of it done after being installed, and none of the actual install itself. The same can be said for others there in the DIY guides etc.

So anyway, just wanted to put this forward to the mods/admins so people can just come to the site, and see what they are after right off the bat.

Thats what im saying thou, its such a mess in there that its hard to find any actual useful guides apart from the ones stickied.

Would just like a place where the guides are in one easy to find place without needing to search through 50+ pages to find the actual guide im looking for.

Anyway its just a suggestion for better organisation, and truth be told looking through the pages does give me a better understanding what is going on, although its just not explained and clear as it can be for modding noobs like myself

I just looked through the DIY section and see no reason to change it, the majority of the 231 threads are properly titled and honestly the 15 stickies threads take up almost half of each page contributing to the 12 plus pages of threads in the section. I would rather unsticky those so you're seeing new threads each page vs adding to the page count while you're trying to find something.

I think the titling should be more structured. Something that can be easier searched.

If it's a honest how to do some thing put how to. If your showing a slow process of an idea that may it may not ever get realized then it shouldn't have anything relating to how to in the title maybe DIY would be a better word and then request on the threads that are requesting how to do something.

That way if I'm just looking for how to I can find them. If I'm looking to fofill a request I can search request.

Stickies are fine just needs an easier way to search relative terms IMO.

Whether anything changes or not doesn't matter to me just an idea.

I do understand your idea... I find, when I'm searching, to use the advanced function, and make sure to select the "title only" option, otherwise I get 50 pages of results where the word is IN the thread...

Are you wanting to install LED's in a particular location?

I was looking for a how-to on how to install them blue LED's people have posted under the dash to light up the pedals and the like. There was talk in 3 threads in the DIY section that said 'if you want me to do a how-to, lemme know'. A few peeps said yeah, but then those threads got sidetracked with people just posting pics of the final project. Thats just one example thou, it happens on pretty much all the DIY threads which is why I wanted to bring it up here.

Krakenbeard pretty much nailed it, maybe just edit the thread names of those that are how-to's and keep so I can just search 'how-to' and go from there. That way it would be easier for noobie people with car modding to find what they are after.

As it is, most people here have some experience with modding, and some simply register, and then post a couple pics of their cars and thats it. I think that would be a win-win for everyone, and having even noobie people like myself have guides that even we can follow and understand, would be beneficial to all, including new members who just want to change something small on their new sonic.

Please consider it anyway guys & girls. :banana:

I can see where before being able to start a thread in DIY, that certain criteria must be met:
Pics (use macro for close shots..no fuzzy)
Step by step
Final look

Lock the thread once posted, or limit it to questions only...but that'd take a Mod who's always up for editing...

Doesnt have to be, just title it with [How-to] blah blah blah then have whoever is doing it, do the how-to and when its done just leave it as normal with questions or whatnot. Wouldnt require anything from the mods/admin except maybe adding the [How-to] tag to 2-3 of the DIYs that already existed.
Long as the poster gets to post his or her DIY/How-to then peeps can go nuts with their comments and feedback.
