Key not working

This morning I started my automatic Sonic using the remote start. I came out to go to work about two minutes later. My doors would not unlock at all. Thinking it was the remote batteries, I grabbed the other remote. It would not unlock the doors either. I ended up having to manually unlock the door with the key which set off the alarm and stopped the engine.

My fiancee told me that a few weeks ago, her key wasn't unlocking the doors immediately and that it took a few tries.

Has anyone else experiencd this?

This happen to me a few times when I first got my car but now I dont have the problem any more.. what I did when my key fob didint work is id put the key in the door and unlock the door then lock it bavk eith the key in the door then pull the key out and try to unlock it with the button. . It worked for me the few times I had to do that

I'm still having this problem. It did it twice last week. Went into Steak & Shake and came out and my car (black Sonic) wouldn't unlock with the remote.

I had to use the manual key to unlock the door, which set off the alarm. I was then able to use the remote to unlock all doors.

I would take it to the dealer, but it's rather difficult to reproduce as it's completely random.

Did you have the BCM software update as specified in the above Techlink bulletin? I need to have this done also, as my 2012 1.4 LTZ hatch has done this twice this month.
It doesn't necessarily have to be inoperative to get the software update; you only need to inform the service adviser of the problem. They have access to the bulletin that pertains to the issue.

Update: I took the car to the dealer as the key issue was becoming more persistant. It started as not being able to unlock the car, but got bad enough that we were not able to lock the car unless the lock button inside was used.

They are having to replace some kind of electronic part (forgot the name, maybe RVSB?) The part will be in on Monday.

I had a similar issue when I could not unlock my hatch with the remote or the inside door switch. there is a module that controls all these functions in the car. you are more than likely having or gonna have to have this module replaced. good luck. fixed my issue when they replaced it.

It's been about 10 days since I returned from the dealer with the part replaced. The locks have been functioning normally so far until today. The doors would not unlock with the remote, even after I manually unlocked the door with the key. After driving around, when I got out at a parking lot, the doors locked.

This is really weird as my other Sonic has 100% functioning locks.
