Yes, the other driver was texting! She admitted it to the cop.
Nothing ticks me off more than texting while driving. At least she was honest about it though. Hopefully she learned her lesson. Years ago I was texting and driving in an automatic. I was at a stop light with an old guy in a Buick in front of me. I didn't have the brake depressed enough and my car inched forward at .5 mph and kissed his rear bumper. He was surprised but we laughed it off because there wasn't any damage done to either car but it still was a big moment for me and ever since that day I never touch my phone while the engine is running unless I'm parked.
I consider myself a responsible and skilled driver, however, my ego never truly healed from doing something so stupid behind the wheel (even though it wasn't serious at all). I just hope she feels the same. If I ripped someone's bumper off their limited edition car because I couldn't wait to send a text I'd hate myself.
Glad you're okay though. It looks like there could have been potential for some whiplash neck injuries.

Wow, I feel your pain. At least your alright and who ever was with you is ok. There is like a $250 fine for using a hand held device here in Ontario Canada.
This morning I went to my car only to find someone clipped my driver side front bumper and damaged it. Bumper is hanging out and it's cracked where it holds the drivers fender. Looks like I might need to replace the whole bumper but I will need to wait till Monday. I was trying to push it back in but it's sticking out of by the lights.
This is very frustrating as I won't be going through my insurance to make another claim since I already did one when someone broke into my car 2 years ago.

With any luck that isn't anything more than just a cover and the absorber underneath. My wife got rear ended in her sonic similarly and that was the only damage.
Look at the bright side of things. You ARE in Florida and look at how long you made it before someone hit you. Last time I bought a new car in Miami we got rear-ended 27 hours later.

Yeah a guy I work with has had 5 hit and runs this year alone in Miami so you're luck. Glad your OK and hope they can match that color because it would be shame to get it back a different tone.

i honestly cant even imagine what i'd do. i beat the crap out of my room mate in san diego for closing the garage door on the rear bumper of my SS, if it had been something like this i would've been infuriated, but then again, this is something insurance would fix.... SS still has a huge a$$ scratch all the way down the rear bumper, all the way through evey layer of primer/paint/clear coat -___- its a touchy subject... lol

The insurance was touch and go for a few days. The other driver had only had her car for 1 day longer than me. She had not amended her insurance policy to reflect. I was informed today her insurance company had accepted liability. So, it's off for some inpatient rehab on the Sonic next Monday.
