P0299 and P0171 Codes

I did search and didn't find anything so...

Yesterday my car threw a CEL P0299, cleared the code and today another CEL, but this time a CEL P0171. Taking the car to dealer to get it check tomorrow, but want to see if anyone here had any idea what's going on?

Car is 2012 bone stock, with about 93k mi.

A while back car threw 3 different CELs (stability,lean, drivetrain), engine was idling very rough and stability control light flashing like crazy. Ending up being a faulty Cam Seal. Car was out of warranty, but chevy covered under emission warranty. So not sure if related or totally different problem

Well the p0171 is a lean code po299 is the turbo under boost code which comes up for a new turbo.

But the turbo was never replaced, still the original one.

Those two codes are typical to any turbo back exhaust install, mainly due to leaks from the V clamp not being tight enough on the turbo to downpipe junction. So, start by tightening the heck outta that. I that doesn't help, start swapping O2 sensors. Swap the sensor on the downpipe with the sensor from the Cat(both tightened properly) and see if you have the same results. Either way the diagnosis is improper air flow, either by leak or faulty part, backyard mechanic logic says inventory parts involved and start replacing the cheapest and go on from there.

Went to Capital Chevy, they couldn't check car for 16days. If I leave it with them, they might look at it in 4days, keyword might. Really? Guy at the counter was of no help.

So took it to Monument Chevy after talking to someone else at Capital.

Just before pulling in. Stability light is on with CEL and rough idle. Here is a pic not even moving at Stability light is on. Exhibiting same symptoms of that faulty camshaft cover seal =/

I wouldn't be surprised if the Intake manifold gasket would need to be replaced and or if the valve cover gasket was starting to go.

Yes, I went to another dealership in the neighboring city. They got me all squared away, diagnosed and in a loaner Chevy Volt in under 2hr.

Those that are curious. Turbo charger being replacing under powertrain warranty.
The P0171 lean, was a vacuum leak; bad valve cover.

The vacuum leak made the Stability light turn on.

Anytime the po299 comes up I advise them to send it in for a turbo replacement

Sorry to bump a few-months-old thread, but I was curious for a little more info on this. I just threw a P0171 code yesterday. Idles kinda rough, hesitates sometimes. The part that confused me the most was, sitting at a traffic light, I looked down and the Traction Control light was on! After driving through the intersection, the TCS light turned back off.

Seeing your report of TCS light in addition to P0171 has me a little freaked out.

When you took it in, was the valve cover covered under powertrain and/or emissions warranty?

Thanks for the bump, also curious. I have a P0170 with the same symptoms. When valve cover is referenced are we talking about the cover itself having a crack/break or are we talking gasket? Thanks in advance!

FYI - In regards to the P0299 code mine just had the turbo replaced because of a worn wastegate pivot at 30K miles. It threw the code once and I cleared it then two days later it threw it again. There was 0 pressure on the wastegate puck. I could move it back and forth with my fingers there was so much slop. Spool up down low was very lazy. I could still hit some bigger boost numbers up high but now it will spool 15 PSI right above 1500 rpm in 6th if I wanted to.
