1.8 auto trans recall

Dropped off the 2012 LTZ on Monday for the trans recall. I am very interested in the number of failures that actually happen to owners. GM is aware of a certain number of suspect shafts and will replace them all to make sure one does not affect customer satisfaction. I had the steering wheel harness recall done first week we owned it. My dealer is very good and takes care of my car.

Mine checked out as not part of this recall. im glad. love my sonic. does like to shift hard from 2nd to 3rd at times, esp when going up a steep hill, it likes to bounch between the two and jerks the hell out of my sonic. i know that cant be good on the transmission and other parts underneath. im sure one of these days i'll be going up a hill and it will do it and wel, im not going to finish this damn sentence and jinks myself lol....

VERY unhappy so far with how this dealer up here has handled it. Dropped it off Friday, said id get a call monday. Never called. Called tuesday, was told I'd get a call back. Didn't get a call. Called wednesday, called me back said they're waiting on parts, and would call me if they came in, but if not, would call me by friday. Friday, guess what, never called. Horrible experience so far. I don't know what is going on with my car and that is all I care about. Very VERY fortunate to not have to rely on this car.

UPDATE: dealer called Thursday evening car is ready! went Friday morning picked up the ride. all is good so far no leaks no drips no errors. had no concerns before the trip have none now. will continue to monitor.

Got car back Friday. After the worst experience at a dealer ever. Car shifts slightly better. Honestly after this whole experience I'm pretty done with Chevy. Left my car with 1/8th a tank when I dropped it with 1/2. Left my car all greasy. Absolutely fed up with Chevrolet after this loan is over.

I'm getting a loaner car. Just called...the car is gone for a week they better give me a loaner as it was their fault. And they better fix the damn smoke and overheat light. I've had this car in multiple times. Thermostat changed last time no change.

For recall work even if its done outside of the warranty period any dealer should put you you into a loaner car. Especially if they are waiting on parts, just say you dont feel safe driving your car and need a loaner until its all sorted out. I drove a loaner sonic 1.8 automatic for almost 6000 miles while my cobalt was having the ignition changed out. When they had me bring the 1.8 back I told them I wanted to drive the 1.4 blue topaz metallic and I ended up trading in the cobalt for the sonic.

Hey everyone just got my car back from the dealership it rook them almost 3 weeks to fix my car and they told me nothing had broke and no pieces where in places they shouldnt be the place I bought my car from totally dropped the ball when it came to the transmission shaft problem so I wound up taking my car to the place close to my house where I get regular oil changes and they explained everything to me and said as soon as someone called him about the paper they got he started doing research and then ordered parts ASAP I imagine I was one of the first to get mine fixed at this dealership and yes they provided me a loaner car and boy do I notice a difference now and I probably should have said something sooner or noticed but my car seemed to shift funny since I bought it I had multiple people tell me they thought I was driving a manual but I got soo used to it I figured it was normal anyways I hope everyone gets there's fixed and doesn't have to deal with dealers dropping the ball

I demanded a loaner car and received one. Asked for a car with good mileage since I drive 70 miles roundtrip to work every day. Ended up with a Chevy Spark! Guess I got what I asked for! lol

But damn it costs me 27.99 to fill up with the low fuel gauge light on, and after fill 320 miles! Wow!
