Official 1.8 turbo thread

Google had this as one of the 1st hits and from what I got skimming thru a few paragraphs it's far from a full fledged "money is no option" electric supercharger so even more power could be made utilizing the same principles and sparing fewer expenses.


Well ****, can't figure out how to paste on the new phone. Google "electric supercharger", it's one of the top hits.

Been doing more research, i might pull the plug and buy the A16LET turbo manifold. Trying to find one cheaper tho. Thoughts????

How much power do you think it will gain? I looked at that header and it said it would increase hp by 30 and I thought that was bit optimistic.

The header is true to its word. Now the turbo manifold idk im afraid to buy it and it doesnt work:/ but if it does bolt on the a 1.8T well be ready

Make sure you pay close attention to the oil cooler/filter housing for the 1.6t vs 1.8 engines. From what I recall when I was looking into that option I seem to recall that the housing needs to be changed. Not sure how inter changeable they are with each other though.

I suspect a lot of the bits in the stock 1.8 wont survive well with positive pressure working on them though.

I am not sure what is different between the manifolds and turbos, but with the 1.6T you have the A16LES, A16LET, A16LEL, and A16LER.

I been studying the pics like crazy and from what i can see the oil filter should be ok where it is @ in the 1.8. Im just now searching for a cheaper price.

That's cool that the headers do give you 30hp, I would like to find some cheaper. I heard that their new headers, 4-2-1 are even better but have not seen it confirmed yet. A small turbo would be nice and the engine might take it if you do not go crazy with the psi.

The 4-2-1 is more for mid range power vs top end. I believe he will not be making any at this time. So far only mine exists.

The reason for the high cost is the high quality. Your not buying a cheap china made , steal header for a Honda off eBay for $124.

It's a high quality, American made,stainless steal header. You will never find a better one.

So the 4-2-1 is more for torque and the 4-1 is more for hp? When I said cheaper I meant a used one, not a cheaper header. I will pay more for American made parts if I can find them. I pay almost 12$ for an oil filter for my car.

i have the 1.8 sedan and which is not a turbo and was thinking of getting a turbo kit. would i need to go aftermarket or OEM
