I did not know any were available.
I understand Wiseco is working on producing some for DDMWorks but I can not recall any have actually come to market.

Ah, I see. Although I do not plan to do an engine build, if I did I would go for engine specific. But I admit I am a conservative when considering car mods. Probably the only life area I am conservative about.

I have a question for the people that have had this issue. When did it smoke? Was it non-stop or was it only in specific conditions?

Sounds about right. I think this may be the underlying issue with my car. I just don't think i can afford to get it fixed, and back to stock will be difficult because of the ported manifold. I just hope that because I work there they will cut me some slack. Even though I just started this week.

Talking to the head mechanic at the Nissan dealer, he said that pretty much any time something goes wrong with the internals on a motor, they also replace the turbo, because it is downwind and any slightest tiny bits of metal getting in there will almost invariably ruin the turbo. Don't know that the Chevy (Saab?) version of the turbo is equally sensitive but the logic is similar.
GM never did this for my car, heck, they didn't even change the oil filter when they replaced the turbo, or the pistons. Maybe if you get a good guy... but the guy that did mine was nice, but seems like he is a typical flat rate mechanic and cut any corner he could.
He even mentioned that when he did replace the turbo, he did not change out the oil and coolant lines, as mentioned by GM, but he replaced them when he had to take the entire engine apart for the pistons. Kinda makes me believe that he didn't fully check to see how much damage was caused by the pistons.

this problem sucks. This will be my 2nd time going to the dealer for this and no one wants to admit theres anything wrong. theres oil under ther turbo, in the turbo, charge pipes,throttle body.its been frustrating and time consuming and been close to selling the car twice cause of this. car has 32700 it still should be covered under warranty right? im also lowered on springs and have a e-cutout i know that has nothing to do with oil spilling everywhere but will they make that a problem?
Oil in all of those places besides an external leak is normal. Do a compression test to see if you really have this issue.
Your exhaust cut out could cause the turbo overdpeed and exceed what it is rated for, too. Not saying it's the cause but you can't rule it out.

thanks although i doubt the cutout could cause oil leaking. i checked the dipstick and it seems like its been comsuming alot of oil. also went under the car and jesus theres oil everywhere. im sure it has to be a cracked piston ring. hopefully warranty does its job. i could try do a compression test but im not a mechanic and dont know the procedures to do so.

remove coil packs from head
Disconnect fuel injector electrical connector
Remove all spark plugs
plug in compression tester to a spark plug hole
turn key for a few seconds to rotate crank
check pressure level stored in compression tester tool
bleed tester by pressing release button
repeat for every cylinder.
Record compression readings, they should all match or be close to each other.
It's quite simple and might only take 15 minutes total

What year is your sonic? Only the early made 2012 had the ring land issue anything past that got the updated piston rings.
Looks like your having extreme blow by do you have the updated oil feed and drain line? I'm 95% sure your turbo is on its way out and not the top ring. Any smoke at start up? Any smoke out of the dip stick or oil cap? Misfire? Oil between the block and head?

got mines in early 2012. i havnt really noticed any smoke coming from the dipstick but last time i check the oil level on the stick was below normal. i made an appoint on saturday, this will be my 3rd time going. i really want to get this fixed before my warranty is up. if not ill be looking for another car.
