Focus products on which Sonic?

Hello members,

We would like to take a poll of how many of each Sonic type are on this forum (1.8, 1.4T & 1.4T RS). We would then have a better understanding of the model we should focus on. Not looking for feedback from all members, just a sample population.

agree, but flip flopped lol if it fits the RS, it will fit the 1.4t (i.e. since their charge pipes fit/clear the RS fog lights, reason stand that they'll fit the other 1.4t's)

1.4 sedan just a suggestion. I think a company should come up with a gauge set that has detailed instructions on the install. I know there are wright ups floating around this site but a one stop shop meaning gauge, gauge pod and detailed instructions would be nice.

I have a 1.8, and as much as I want to push for more products for the 1.8 I cant. Lets face it, the majority of people modifying these cars for more power have a 1.4. The quick easy power is not really an option for the 1.8 like it is for the 1.4.

Just about any non engine/trans related items should cross over regardless of the engine in the vehicle.

Focus on 1.4 parts and enjoy the business. I also get the overall impression that the majority of 1.8 owners are cheap ****s and dont want to pay a fair price for a product. Being that the 1.8 is a really limited market I dont see it as a wise business decision to choose it over the 1.4 market. Just my opinion though.

As mitdr774 said, though, the majority of people who are reporting modifying their cars certainly seem to be 1.4T any of the three trim level) owners. Not only does paying the extra for the 1.4T mean you're willing to spend money on a better* car, but also the 1.4T responds much better to mods; the NA engine is working near the top of its game already and any gains have been marginal, while the 1.4T has already been modified to nearly double stock power levels.

*I know, many 1.8 owners feel that the 1.4T is not better. But the 1.4T owners do not think so, and so for them, this remains a valid point to describe their nature.

The majority of the Sonics up here in Canada will be of the 1.8L variety. I may have only seen 2 or 3 with a Turbo Badge on them so far. That is made true by the fact that you can only get the Turbo if you move up to the LTZ trim package. Because of the options we are given, it costs a minimum of 5000$ more to get a Turbo Sonic from my LT.

Its pretty much the only reason I didn't get the Turbo Sonic at this time. I imagined I could be ready to upgrade in about 2 years.

In the US, the Turbo is available in the LT trim, for an extra $700. If, like me, you would have been happy with the LS trim, moving "up" to LT cost $1000 extra, so I plunked $1700 total into getting the 1.4T instead of the 1.8.

Even with this much smaller price difference, I have only seen a couple Turbo badges in the two years I've spent driving my Sonic. With a $5000 difference it's even harder to imagine folks spending that extra money on what is still an econobox. Then again, folks are buying the RS, and that's just an expensive upgrade on the 1.4T LT.
