Got one installed too
i think it would be fine as the air bag its self is more in the roof, just parts are in the pillar but it is also held down so they pillar its self doesnt fly at your face

I really want to add a boost gauge as well. I've seen Stratton's (and a few other user's) ultragauge setup and while I think it is super cool and clean looking and much easier to install, I really want a gauge. In my opinion, I really like gauges over digital. However, I'm kind of new to this and I don't know which hose to tap into to get the boost pressure. I've looked online and have found stuff on other turbo cars, but the Sonic looks different.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. =]

While wingman is correct most people want the gauge for the look and apeal that its a faster car than it really is but in my case he is wrong.. im looking more towards my gas milleage.. i shift typically at 1600 or less in 6th gear by 37 and i would like to see my boost so i kno im not putting to much boost on this little fella.. all gm car turbos come from factory operating up to 4.5 psi and they r safe to operate up to 6psi.. Not possitive on this information as ive never tested it but this is what i was told by a gm mechanic from a dealer so i assume hes rite... any one know much on this ?

A supercharger from the factory I can see at 6psi, but not a turbocharger from anywhere. I understand the Sonic goes up to 16psi from the factory and if tuned 22psi seems entirely reasonable.
I do not know what level of boost the supercharged Cadillacs, Corvettes and Camaros are running, but I am certain more than six pounds but none in the teens as they roll off the factory floor. Probably ten pounds. Someone who know will post, I am sure.

The reason I am interested in installing one is because I'm just curious as to how much boost my car is running. Everyone seems to be reporting different numbers so I just want to know for myself. I had one in my old eclipse and I miss it.

The gauge will always be running different numbers as boost and vacuum go up and down. The trick is to look at the gauge just as it hit maximum boost.
The Camaro ZL1 is geared to run at 9psi as it leaves the factory. Just looked at an article about the ZL1's engine.
