I drove my Sonic 1500 miles in two days, 75-78 MPH with A/C on all the time. The average mileage for the trip as recorded by the trip computer was 38.2 MPG. This included driving in Virginia mountains for at least 100 miles and also sitting in traffic for at least an hour due to road closures. This with regular 87 octane gas. I estimate real MPG to be just a bit less, but still impressive. 2013 Sonic sedan 1.8 liter engine, 5 speed manual transmission.

If your trip computer is as wrong as mine usually is, your real MPG could be as much as 4-5 mpg less.

In September I am flying out to Phoenix to drive back to FL with a friend who has a 1.4T Sedan and we are looking very forward to seeing the results of that trip. Once we get back I can update here as to what kind of mileage we got and the conditions for the drive.

Planning a 3000 mile round trip next year. Looking forward to better gas mileage...compared to our Traverse.

I'm gonna be driving 1770.8 miles round trip from south carolina to texas and back this holiday season, interested to see my mileage as well. when i made the drive from texas to here (SC) in my 06 cobalt ss supercharged, i averaged 38 mpg's, hoping for at least that in the sonic, but RS has ****ty gearing -__-

I think we got an average of around 37 MPG from Phoenix to Miami and average speed of like 75 so we were hauling A$$ for a lot of the trip lol.

Chicago to Seattle 21xx miles at end of October
Averaged 33 mi on the first 1000 miles or so, dropped to 28-29 once I hit souf Dakota.
Got it back up to around 30 mpg once entering WA state.
3 plastic tote containers, luggage, and some misc crap loaded in the car
'14 auto hatch with around 7400 miles at the time
