Why did you choose Sedan or Hatchback?

Another difference between the sedan and the hatch is the tail light treatment.
I prefer the visual aesthetics of the tail lights on the hatchback vs the ones on the sedan. The wife drives the sedan, and I drive the hatch; I like mine better all around, except for the sedan has more trunk space. She can carry more cargo, but I can fit larger/taller cargo items in the hatch that won't begin to fit in the sedan's trunk.
One other difference that I have yet to determine the reason why: The hatch seems to be less affected by crosswinds than the sedan. My hatch is more stable in windy conditions than the wife's sedan. It's something we both have noticed. It may be the aerodynamics: The hatches' flat back profile vs the sedans' longer profile.

You have both, that's cool. Does the hatch have the same size back seat as the sedan?

Today I got a ride in the back seat of a Sonic hatchback (someone's rental car). The rear door opening on the hatchback seems to be smaller than on the sedan, as entry and exit are more difficult. I noticed that there was very little luggage space with the rear seat not folded. If you use your
Sonic as a family car, sedan makes a lot more sense in my opinion. it also looks like a bigger car. In fact, Sonic sedan and WV Golf hatchback are the same length, whereas compared to a Sonic hatchback, VW Golf looks like a much larger car.

Made the mistake of buying a Mazda 3 sedan, not again. Love the looks of my hatches!!!!

America must be changing, there was a time when you couldn't give away a hatchback not that long ago. I had an 86 cavalier hatch that I loved. I can't say I care for today's hatches much at all. Honestly I wish the sonic was sold as a station wagon myself. But since it isn't the sedan was for me. (Well.... my wife) neither of us cared about the looks of the hatch.

The Sonic wagon is called the Trax. About 10" longer.
That has got to be one of the ugliest vehicles on the road today. I'll pass.

anyway that would be my fantasy car, station wagon created by getting the sedan frame and stretching the rear end of a hatchback body to the full sedan length.

with a little tweaking of the back doors/windows so that there'd be rear quarter windows that'd be awesome
I do admit it seems a little too stubby in the rear so I'm going to get the bigger spoiler for it (not the big wing but the duckbill that just sticks out further)
