I never thought I would need a build thread, as I wasn't planning on modifying or customizing this car at all. But here I am a month in, with shopping carts full of parts on several sites. I should have known better with my other cars a bikes I couldn't resist pushing it to the limit and making it "ME". So this Thread will be my outpouring of what a "Beautiful disaster of a model **** show" that my projects usually end up becoming. So thanks for checking in, hope your guys enjoy the ride as much as I know I will...opcorn:

Alright, So it aint much but here we are to start.

Added a sticky pad so that my buddy "Alfalfa" can cruise with me.
I got my first piece of "Carbon Fiber" with many more to come,
Just a license plate frame. HAHA
And these goodies came in over the weekend...

So in the boxes I have a DDMWorks CIA and heat shield.
Also my new ZZP catback exhuast with high flow secondary cat and ZZP Muffler, In the other 4 boxes I have a set of LTZ 17" Wheels I purchased locally for a great deal so I can play with some paint ideas.

Well, This is probably is until I get tuned.
Then probably I'll get a Carbon fiber hood.
And I'm still waiting for an update for my custom front lip.

I forgot to mention I plan on lowering before I get my tune or hood.
I also will probably replace some hoses with silicone hoses from DDM
while I have the bumper off to do the intake and such. I picked these
up pretty cheap online, some things i just felt the car needed to really
show of the RS Trim! The RS grille badge and also tire valve covers...

So the Sonic hit a milestone today 10,000 miles.

And yeah, I already have more planned for this vehicle than I can figure out how to fund. So I'm already in trouble as far as that goes. I have a habit of modding then getting almost to a point where I'm done then I decide to start changing the crap I've already changed for something else better or different.

Nice thing about our rides, there are PLENTY of mods for $100 or less, so start with those!

Ultragauge

Just ordered my Ultragauge, still hard to believe that Chevy didn't want us to be able to monitor our boost and many other fairly basic things about our vehicles.

I'd like an UG too. Where are you going to install yours? I like the cubby to the right of the speedo for a mounting spot with the window mount and then the gauge right there to the right of the speedo. I've seen it on here in the UG thread.

I'm probably going to rig a mount to set it just above the speedo. I ordered a vertical mount with it to see if maybe I can make that work. I feel like it should be near the cluster because it's something I would want to constantly watch. But once it gets here I will size and measure everything up and see what will or won't work.

Ultra-Gauge Install

I received my UG yesterday, Talk about bang for your buck!
This little gizmo is all sorts of handy, slightly archaic as to the setup and menu and such but this little thing is AWESOME! It didn't work out where I originally would have liked to have mounted it. But I found an even better place to mount the vertical mount to give my net toy a good home. Perfectly in my line of sight when driving so it's easy to monitor. Also not in anyone else's direct line of vision so that they may not mistake it for a GPS and try to steal it. Check out the pics below for my installation

I used a heat gun and mounted it directly inbetween the cluster and ac vent.
There is a perfectly little flat spot there to do so.

I then ran the UG cord back over the unit and mount and ran it down under the steering column.

From there I ran it over to the fuse panel cover and made an ever so small notch in the cover not to pinch the UG wire. I ran the plug through the fuse and dropped it to the floor board behind the dash. Bundled the extra wire and plugged it in.

As you can see the UG sits perfectly in my line of sight when looking at the cluster normally.

Badge Overlay

I also never said anything about my badge overlays.
I had done those the first week I had the before I ever joined the forum. Just couldn't stand the gold bow ties any longer.I didn't take any step-by-step pics but this is the finished product. I realized after putting a "wet carbon" license plate frame on the car that i need to get some "plastidip glossifier" to the badges and see if it makes them look better. I have a feeling I'm going to end up with "Holden" badges in the near future anyways. But time will tell...:banana:
