So driving home today I noticed traffic getting out of the left lane. As I got closer I was like OH NOES ITS A SONIC HATCH!

At first I thought, no biggie, flat tire, looks like its handled, keep driving. As I got closer I was like wtf mate?

Glad I got out. I decided to due my due diligence and this is what I found...

yea I was hoping that someone would chime in on this one. Definitely not something I think should be overlooked.

As far as the cause, they driver had no idea. He did mention it was a rental car, so its possible its been abused a bit (even being a 1.8 Auto), but even so, thats not something you want to see!

Nope I don't need the additional stress in my life like worrying about things that are beyond my control.

If it is a problem and not a single incident I am sure that GM is working to fix it. I'm hoping of a single incident of a ball joint letting go, parts do fail when produced on a larger scale.

Hopefully so, looks like maybe the wheel caught something.

Mass produced parts do fail and atleast a ball joint failure is better then the problem Ferrari was having with some misplaced fuel lines that were not shielded:

Defective parts happen now and then, so it may not be anything to worry about. Besides, it's still under warranty, and if it starts happening to more of them, then there will be a recall. Not a worry in the world... Ok nevermind, that was a lie, but I'm not worrying about this.

Ah the joys of rental cars.. I've never questioned my integrity at the counter more than when I returned the last dodge caravan that thrifty gave me... I felt so bad for the poor schmuck that had to clean the mud and the empty beer cans

Agreed! I've had my share of manufacture defects on other cars. I hope that's not the case. Going to keep an eye on this!

I am not so sure, the driver might have hit a curb. That tire is flat, and not just because he popped a ball joint.

1956 Chevy back in 1964.
