I recently purchased a Sonic RS. It is in stock condition. I have heard about the Trifecta Tuner. I am interested in purchasing the Advantage tune they sell. However, I was just wondering, if my car has a manual transmission, will I see a noticeable improvement in performance and gas mileage? Or is the change most apparent in cars with automatic transmission?

Also, what exactly does the tune change? Will it give me more power in 1st and 2nd gear?

You will feel the power difference.

Changes several things, but most important raises oem 16lb boost to 20lbs plus and lowers operating temp about 20* both contributing to significant power improvements.

Fuel economy effects are conjectural. If one uses premium, there appears to be an mpg improvement but premium costs more, so it looks like a wash. That said, I can not conceive anyone driving a turbocharged engine vehicle and not using premium.

I don't think Trifecta has ever publicly stated the details of what they change, obviously you'll get higher intake manifold pressure (boost). A lot of users mention more aggressive throttle mapping at lower RPM but that could simply be boost ramp up rate at lower RPM or actual throttle mapping.

I forget if the Advantage is the canned tune but if you have some mods like a CAI they may tweak other settings as well after receiving logs from you. Some examples of things that *may* get adjusted after receiving logs from you are timing, power enrichment, MAF.

Trifecta would be the best people to ask what they change since it is their tune, you'll definitely feel more power in all gears, not just 1st and 2nd.

before just settling for the trifecta tune, check out bad news racings website, they offer custom tunes through EFI Live and diablo sport, both of which are putting out better numbers than the trifecta tunes. Decision is up to you, but i like to let people know of other options lol especially when they're considering trifecta

forget trifecta, go with one of the bnr tunes, car will be faster, drive like stock, and you wont loose your hair waiting lol

You will get good times with either tune. If you can drive, expect 14's with just a tune. I know personally my car had a 14.6/14.5 in it if I was able to fix my shift issue. I will say the throttle mapping with Trifecta is not ideal, therefore I would consider the BNR EFI live tune (coming from a Trifecta user).
