2012 Chevy Sonic LTZ Hatchback 6spd manual 1.4L Turbo w/sunroof, Crystal Red Metallic Tintcoat, Jet Black/Dark Titanium Leatherette trim, Turbo side decal, Perrycraft SportQuest Roof Rack (OEM Rack Style Bars), 1&1/4" trailer hitch for bicycle rack, Analog Gauges (water temp, oil pressure, voltmeter), XZILON X4-Ultimate Appearance Protection, Added protective leatherette liner to fold/down rear seat areas to protect seat backs in case of scratches when loading cargo, "WeatherTech DigitalFit Floor Liners" (front & back) and 1 set (4 tires) of the Michelin Premier A/S 205/50R 17/XL 93V.

Vehicle currently has 51,100 miles and the only problem was the rear wiper/washer motor was making noise at about 20,000 miles and was replaced under warranty.

This has been the BEST car I've ever owned, period! I would definitely buy one again! :banana:

Just rounded 134,000. No major repairs, just hate that automatic transmission.

Swaybar links failed once, was planning to do them again my self and still haven't gotten to it.

Rear speaker was bad in delivery, dealer replaced it fast, no problems.

Had common leak onto passenger floor that dealer tried to fix and finally got it on the third attempt. Again, they were very good with the whole thing.

Have had a tiny amount of coolant loss since day one but I keep it overfilled and probably add 2 cups per year if that.

Turbo wastegate solenoid failed at around 64,000 and dealer replaced entire turbo in one day. No complaints.

The clip for drivers side visor broke and won't hold the visor but I just grab it by the pivot and all is fine.

So far, my next car will be another Sonic. Overall it's still the best car I've ever owned.

2012 sonic. 1.4 turbo 6 speed manual trans. hatchback. 93,000 miles. Besides oil and filters changes. On 2nd set of tires. Stock tire lasted about 60,000. Replaced front wheel bearing at 65,000.

How many folks are tuned and have high mileage? I've been reading all the posts about the tunes ..ie. higher gas mileage and am wondering if I'm asking for trouble as I usually keep my cars for a long time.

Looks like the OP hasn't been updated since May; I wonder what the holdup is.

While I'm at ~73k right now, I happy to announce that I'll likely be dropping off the list in the near future -- I'm changing jobs soon, and the new one is 14 miles from my house instead of the current 76. Woot!

My turbo failed on my 2012 last month at around 60,000 miles.
I had the car back no questions asked the next day with a new turbo.


As long as your dealer is good you'll have no problems getting that fixed.

Still have NOT replaced the factory brakes, but I need to do it soon. I've never driven a car this many miles on one set of brakes, although I do drive a ton of highway miles. I hope my next set last as long.

Replaced it 70,000+ miles ago. As was the transmission, head gasket and a few other small things.

it seems that this car is not reliable. If you had to change Turbo @ 50.000 miles.
Sad, I really interested in this car, but poor reliability makes me thinking over and over again to buy it or just get Japanese used car, like toyota or honda.

The used one I want to buy (rs trim) has 51.000 miles on it, so it should be covered by GM warranty, which is good up to 100.000 miles? Please correct me if I was wrong.

Oddly, I feel it's been more reliable over the past 30-40K than the first 80-90K.

Yes, full warranty up until 100,000. I didn't pay a dime for anything.
