1.8M avg. 32.2 - 32.0 MPG. You all do know that the more the car is driven it takes a lot to bring the average up or down. For example if I take a road trip & avg. 38 MPG for 500 miles, then drive in bumper to bumper traffic & avg. 22 MPG for 20 miles the avg. isn't going to change much from 38 mpg. The Sonics should have a instant MPG calculator. Make sure you reset it after every fill up to get a current reading. Or you have to use the odometer & gas receipt to really calculate your fuel efficiency.

That's what I called the "Prius factor" . . . Normal driving vs total focus on mileage driving. Seems like they hold up traffic more than any other small vehicle, kinda like proving a point rather than real world driving.

Im mostly driving city down here in daytona..Its pretty steady at 25.8. I have the 1.8m.

About 50% of my driving is cruise set @ 80mph, highway.
The other 50% is stop and go anywhere from 25 to 55.
My lifetime average is in my sig, but at the time of writing, my car is reporting 33.5 (I reset it every fill up)

I'm averaging 41 mpg. I drive 74 miles one way to work, Mon-fri.
The highest I've got so far was 46.2. That was driving extremely conservative. The worst was 38.2 and that was racing to work the whole way. Generally I get about 40ish though.

Warmup period:

I have a scantool plugged in to my car all the time, and also drive a 1.8. I notice that during warmup, the car runs very rich, and for the first 3 miles or so my mileage really suffers. That being said, I get fantastic mileage from the 1.8, as my commute is about 15 miles each way (mostly city, but not too much traffic).

I have the european version of sonic (aveo) 1.3 Diesel.
I get from 4.6 lt/100km (61.4 mpg from a calculator) (lowest i saw at trip) to 5.4 lt/100km (52.3 mpg) (in the city)
It may be a small turbo 1.3 L engine but has 210 nm (95hp) of torque

Most of my driving is city and as you can see in my sig, my mileage has been around 24ish but I only have 500 miles on the car. Hopefully it increases, but I must say this car gets better gas mileage then my 96 Lumina I traded in for my new Sonic! :banana: I feel like it would be more accurate to determine how many miles you are driving per tank. (i.e. 250 miles per tank, 300 miles per tank) would be a better way to calculate how good or bad your gas mileage could be. Just an idea though.

I hope for your sake that the dashboard errs on the low side of your actual mpg, and not on the high side as mine does, or you may be even further from a happy camper. After about six fill-ups, the display has been pretty consistently ~3mpg higher than my actual calculations. My best tank so far was 41.9 in a 300 mile round trip, almost all highway, with the ac blasting. The display tried to fool me into thinking I had achieved 45ish. I opted for the 1.4 manual though, because it has more power (torque) across the whole powerband, is rated for better mpg, and is sourced from right here in the USA! unlike the korean-sourced 1.8.

i drive 120 miles each day to and from work. 98% highway. my average MPG reads 27.0 right now and its been slowely going up and up since i bought the car. i have about 1,700 miles on my 1.8 HB.

I'm at about 1000 miles on my hatchback, 1.4L Turbo, 6spd AT and I'm consistently around 32 mpg, mix of highway and stop and go- traffic. By resetting it for different portions of my drive I can see where the differences are. Stop and go traffic really kills the mpg. One thing that I was pleasantly surprised at was I can get just about the same mpg driving my usual maniacal fast style as driving conservatively (Prius style?), thanks to the efficiency of the turbo at higher rpms and torque. No need to hold back ....YAY !
