is your mileage in the low 20s or worse

I drive about 5-6 miles per day with a few stops and a max speed of about 30 mph this is probably about 40% of my average which today read 22.5 over about 1000 miles of driving. I switched to manual after resetting my odometer and drove a few miles today and still low 20s. I had a 2008 cobalt before and averaged much better mpg. I have tried driving so conservatively that I wanna pull my hair out. is anyone else in this predicament???

The highest mpg i've got for "city" driving is 24.1. I never got above that, for about 2 weeks I tried to drive it as light on the pedal as possible and it would never go above 24.1.

Well, still have under 3,000 miles on my 2017 Sonic. I generally drive 65% state highway (55 to 70 MPH) and interstate and 35% city (30 to 45 MPH).

My DIC has been at 30.1 to 30.2 MPG since last Fall. I hand calculate each fill up and the results are always 29 to 33 MPG. The last fill up this week was 32.2 MPG.

The best I ever got was an 280 mile trip (35 to 55 MPH) from the city when we picked the Sonic up and then filled it immediately when getting home with it. . . 36.6 MPG.

My 2017 sonic HB with the 1.4 turbo AT, has about 900 Miles. I just Did a trip of about 200 Miles, all highway (65mph), calculated at 37.1 mpg. Temp was about 35 degrees F. Pretty flat terrain (central Illinois)

I feel I do Best about 55 mph

I dont See me getting much better than that

So, for fun, I filled Up, drove 100 miles on flat cantral illinois highway at 60mph. Filled up again, 2.1 gallons of gas.... so at that slower speed, I feel The mpg jumped to what it really should be on a car this size, 47 mpg!

Took a short drive Sunday of 66 miles, some 15 miles city, the rest semi rural and some interstate at 45 to 70 MPH.
It has now been in the mid 60F range so my lifetime DIC MPG which I have not reset since new, has gone up from 30.2 to 31.3MPG. The last fill up hand calculated at 31.2MPG for similar driving.

I am fine with this MPG for a 1.8L Sonic HB with 1.8L automatic.

Driving to work this week and a few trips to the local walmart, I put 255 miles on the odometer. After filing up 6.760 gallons it averaged out to 37.7 mpg going between 55-60mph. The DIC was reading 39.8 mpg. The lowest I've gotten since owning is 33.3 mpg and that was when I was going 70 and above on the interstate. Oh.....and my car came with the Belly pan from the factory so this might be what helps with MPG.
