1.8 Engine Tuning

Hey guys i think ima jump on the current BNR 1.8 tuning sale. Just wondering how of us 1.8 guys are tuned and how have yall liked it. Also just curious if mpgs have gone up, down or stayed the same.

The tuning service BNR provides is amazing, the tune itself ( I have HPT) is the best that has ever been on the car.

It's worth the money

I can't comment about MPG, since my car is a track car I never check it

Depends on what year 1.8 you have.

Efi live is only compatible with '13+.

Efi, hpt ECT are just tuning software. BNR's tuning service is who adjusts the tune for POWA!

I recently flashed my sonic with the trifecta calibration tune and I have to say It was money well spent. The throttle mapping is pretty aggressive but I don't think it hurts drivability any, at least not with a 5spd. You can definitely tell the difference in power.

Fuel trims were all over the place not to mention they were commanding 14:1 at wot. it felt like a dog compared to my BNR tune.

With that said, I ran a trifecta tune for 2 years and I thought it was a good tune, but when I switched to a BNR tune, I was way wrong. After extensive logging and testing I realized how sloppy trifecta's tunes are.

Well just got finished up with my BNR tune using EFI Live and I gotta say its great, really woke this little engine up. With only a tune right now we are looking at it making around 150HP and 140TQ using 93 octane pump gas. Not to mention being able to get the pedal responsiveness just how I like it and as long as I stay out of it my MPG really hasn't changed. Jerry was really easy to work with and answered all of my questions. Can't wait to see what it can do with some bolt on mods.

Hey everyone, I have a 2012 Sonic 1.8 LS. I am looking at getting it tuned and wondering what my options are. Any thoughts? I know that some tunes don't work with the 2012 models and wondering if there are options. Any help would be great!

You really need to be set to .028.

Runs a hair better with a little larger gap. .028 is just want GM tells you it should be.

I don't really care what trifecta does, I can't take anything they do seriously.

And that small of adjustment has very little effect on the actual tuning part. You can do that on a stock tune and still benefit.

You are still loving the 1.8 tune? I am thinking about getting it soon for 2012 and wondering which tune to go with. Right now I have intake and cat back. Looking at getting bnr header and down pipe soon. Wondering if i have to go full tune?

Both my 1.8 racecar and 1.4 turbo are BNR tuned.

The 1.8 was trifecta tuned for 2 years before I switched to BNR. BNR fully customized it to specific needs I requested and the car overall was just better and faster.

I wrote off trifecta when they insisted I try there newest update and that it was so much better, but it pegged the LTFT and ran like crap. When data logged I was told that this tune did no require a log and that upon review it was fine.
