new clutch now no reverse

So i bought a spec stage 2 for my car (1.4 ltr 6 sd man) I drive for lyft in San francisco and wanted something that would take the abuse and since the old one was on its way out this seemed like a goo choice after dealing with a website that said 1'3 days shipping and the product not arriving until 15 days later i finally received my parts I also bought a new slave cylinder from GMparts direct.
I take it to my local shop to get this installed . I called the next day and they said it would be about another 45 minutes and a test drive .. SO i walk down the hill to the shop and its not ready.. I asked him what was up and he said that it was really really stiff and now it wont go into reverse..
He contacted the dealer to ask what the problem might be and they said something about there being 2 different mm clutch set ups ,,
and that was 3 hours from when they said 45 minutes. I asked him why he would call the dealer on an aftermarket part and he really couldn't give me a straight answer ,, I showed him the box and to contact SEC and i even gave him the number to the place where I bought the parts from.
So I am asked the mechanics out there why would the car not go in reverse?
Could this be they didn't torque the bolts to specs ?
clutch cable not adjusted correctly ?
I've lost so much cash waiting on my car to get fixed I really at my end here

The 2014's supposedly had a larger diameter clutch.

There is no clutch cable, it's a hydraulic system. There are 2 shift cables that may need adjustment, but they shouldn't have changed.

Does this mean that the pedal was stiff, but all the gears worked at some point, and now reverse doesn't? Stiff pedal should mean that something is binding up.

Sounds like an installation error, but I don't know enough about it.

pedal feels fine I took it for a drive and reverse 1st and 2nd all had issues ,, When in neutral at a light it was sometimes impossible to get it into 1st or sometimes even second .
reverse was an issue at as well, I had to turn the motor off and then back on,, It's back at the shop now

Yup later year sonics need a different clutch kit. So if the kit you got is not 2014 and newer style you have the wrong kit. KY Performance kits we sell are designed for all sonics as they build them per the model year of your car.

Only reverse, first, and second are an issue? All other gears are fine? If so the shop needs to look up how to adjust the shift cables properly. While nothing should have changed it is possible that the cables were disturbed in a manner that resulted in a misalignment.

This should be the first thing to verify-check.

It's a 2013 not a 2014 and the other gears are working just not very smooth,, when the shop opens on Monday , Ill pass on the info ,,I specified 2013 on the clutch kit and flywheel as well as submitting my VIN for the slave cylinder.

Does pumping up the clutch pedal multiple times change anything? If not, it's likely the cable adjustment, since you mention issues with all gears. If yes, need to bleed the hydraulic clutch system.

they bled out the slave cylinder again and said it was fixed ,, ,,,,,,,it is not

Does anyone think that the slave cylinder needs to be shimmed ,,,The clutch engages a lot sooner very close to the floor than before..

If the clutch starts to engage much earlier than the original clutch did (when new), then there are a couple of possibilities.
1) the system is STILL not bled correctly.
2) clutch disk replacement it too thick.
3) the throw out bearing is incorrect, too tall.
Of all options, I would believe that the system still needs to be bled correctly. Sometimes they are extremely tough to bleed. Check the Cruz forums to see if they have any tricks....

You don't mention the problem, does it grind trying to go into gear or can you not select the gear with no grinding. If it grinds the clutch is not fully disengaging. This can be caused by many things mostly incorrect installation.
You should remove this company from your preferred list. Sounds like they are not qualified. Clutch install should be a say deal for a qualified mechanic.
You may need to cut and run to a different mechanic if you are loosing money waiting for your current mechanic to learn on your car!

no grinding ,, it just refuses to go into gear and if it does its done with force. Im taking it to a new guy today

look for the USER CP up at the top... in there you can edit signature/avatar etc...
