Hello I am in the usaf and they stationed me in the uk but right after I left my car decided to throw codes. Wife is back home with newborn waiting to come over here but until the car gets inspected she can't. But she can't pass inspection b/c of 3 codes(supposedly) P0101, P0442, B2A00. The dealer keeps saying it's not under warranty eve though I'm pretty sure they have fixed these codes a few yes"few" times in the past now we have like 55ish on the car bought it new in 2012. I've looked up codes on this forum but no direct answer what to look for. If it's the maf sensor and a gas cap I think I can talk her through the process but it's very hard and frustrutating being this far away. Also can't really afford bringing it in avoiding at all costs due to a newborn.

The P0101 is related to the MAF. It's screwed into the air filter tubing going into the engine. It's in the pic below, right where the air filter is you'll see that sensor screwed into the tubing. 2 Phillips screws... then it just pulls straight out. Not sure if a spritz with carb cleaner would help, or perhaps it's clogged?? But that's the MAF
The P0442 could be a gas cap thing. Perhaps buying a new one will help
The B2A00 isn't a code OBD wise, it's specific to GM cars. I researched and it said to disconnect the positive terminal of the battery for about 10 minutes to clear out codes (this may help with the other codes...possibly)...
But I'd have her buy a new gas cap. The MAF is delicate, so I might have a place like Meineke or some shop take a look and get their opinion.
For the B2A00 I'd disconnect the positive terminal for 10 minutes...
Before the snow hits there (I think a big one is coming)

BTW, this is the 1.8l and you can see the MAF is sort of in the same area, but towards the top of the pic in this
2012? If it is a 1.8l then I would definitely check the 90 degree elbow rubber tube in the top left corner of this picture. It likely has a large hole in it.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you had 55,000 miles on the car last time you checked, and it has been driven since then, the dealer may be correct about the warranty.
Unless you purchased an extended warranty back in 2012, the standard GM warranty is 5 years/60,000 miles, whichever comes first. If your car isn't over 60,000 yet, then you might be looking at the dealership using this clause to get out of responsibility:

If they can claim that the codes are being caused by poor fuel quality, or just general wear-and-tear (the one I hear the most), they can weasel out of fixing the problem.

The STANDARD warranty is 3 years/36,000 miles for 2012.
The POWER TRAIN warranty warranty is 5 years/100,000 miles for 2012.
The Standard warranty would cover sensors - if that is causing the codes.
The Power Train warranty would not.

The dealer isn't trying to weasel out of anything.
Ok got her to put gasoline on gas lip just to see if that would make a difference it has in the past for about 6 months. Also there is a crack small but it's there in the 90° tube is there a quick fix for that just to hold it over until it gets here I was thinking a mending tape or duct tape or taking like a rubber glove and taping that to make a better seal
I will have her reset codes and see it light pops back on or if it has any temp codes( codes that appear that haven't been there a full cycle.)

This really sucks for timing. My cousin has a similar situation and he is getting ready to ship out on the USS George HW Bush.
When are you scheduling to ship the car?
I would order the gas cap and the tube. They are very inexpensive and should ship quickly with the right vendor. You definitely don't want to let the tube go for to long. The car is running ultra lean and will meltdown the pistons and valves.

Remember , rockauto.com for parts . Compare their pricing + shipping & compare to local parts stores . I have ordered quite a few parts from them , for our older cars . Ordered 4 AC/Delco oil filters from them for the Sonic .
While someone is messing with the rubber air hose , check the air filter , too .

Relating to the P0101 code, I had this issue right after I bought my car (used). Turned out that the intake tube had cracked.

Common issue on the 1.8s. Won't hurt to drive it. Somebody needs to make a hard pipe for a permanent fix.
