it isn't impossible I guess, but you wouldn't end up with a useable tire lol
OK, so this is the first set of aftermarket wheels I will be buying for a car ever. I have read thru this entire thread, twice, as well as several other threads, to try to get a basic understanding.
I have a '14 LT hatchback, came with stock 15" wheels, which I have snow tires on them right now. Looking at new wheels and decided I liked the look of 17s.
The wheels I'm looking at are Konig Zero-Ins. 17x7, 5-105/114.3 bolt pattern, 40 offset, with a center bore of 73.1. I used the offset calculator from earlier in the thread and they look like they will clear ok.
I read in one of these threads about getting hubcentric rings, which if I understand correctly, help to center the new wheel on the hub since the Sonic hub is 56.6. I just haven't figured out where to buy them yet, or how absolutely necessary they are.
My biggest question is on tire fitment. I was looking at either 205/50/17s or 225/45/17s. Does anyone see any issue with the wider 225 tires rubbing on the suspension or steering components? Beyond the added handling, the 225/45/17s are a bit cheaper, for some reason.
Any insight is much appreciated!
Now the 225's I would say you need some small spacers maybe 25 mm?

Been through this thread, seems like a lot of blah, blah, blah.
I need to replace tires soon and want to go to 225/45/17. I have seen comments that say they fit and comments that say they need a ring or something. This is an RS with factory wheels. Not interested in adapters of any kind.
Fit or no anyone using them for more than an hour!
Thanks in advance!

I'm running this size tire on aftermarket wheels with no problem so you will definitely be fine running on stock RS wheels.
Karen, Did we ever see the red wheels on your car?
