Bully dog gt tuner

Got my canned bully dog tuner yesterday.
Opened r up poured it into the car and seem to work
Petty good. I'm running premium power
With the fuel saver option. Noticeable power
Increase at low end. I can let the clutch out
At idle in 1st and 2nd without stalling.
Now my daughter will be able to drive
It without stalling or frying the clutch trying not
To stall it. I'll set it for full sport when I'm
Driving.

The full power setting delivers the goods
I dont know if I'm getting as much hp
As the trifecta tune but I'm getting a lot. The car
Chirps the tires, Jumps off the line, the boost comes right up
To 8/10 psi in 3rd n 4th gear and I'm doin 65 shift to 6th hit the
Cruze and go Fogey driving.

If you're only seeing 8-10 psi you're getting less boost than you did stock which is around 12-14 psi depending on location/altitude. What are you using to read your boost?

One of the functions of the tuner is boost a
Gauge. I'm only getting 8-10 psi because that's all the farther
I'm pushing down the gas peddle. I suppose if I tried
A little harder I could get bigger boost #s
Remember, I'm an old Fogey. Also, if the
Boost is limited @ 14psi that's all ill
Ever get without modifying the waste gate
Actuator.

I see and that makes sense. I'm sure the Bully Dog pushes more than stock psi, you wont get the 20-23 psi that you get with Trifecta. I look forward to hearing what you actually pull for max boost when you finally decide to press the loud peddle all the way down.

Modifying the waste gate control arm length is highly not recommended.

I would think it makes 18 to 20 psi boost under full load.

There tune does not alter the stock turbo
Boost range so 8-10 psi is all ill get. Must be to
Keep the MPG #s up. the MPGs stay in the
40s

That's strange they don't up the boost during WOT (wide open throttle). Wonder what parameters they tweak?

One of the beauties of turbo engines is the turbo can force huge amounts of air into the engine (with an equivalent increase in fuel) to make great power under full throttle. Then at part throttle It's basically an NA engine sipping on fuel.

So with a tune they can up the boost get way more power when you want it without hurting gas mileage during cruise.

I've got the Bully Dog GT on my '14 Sonic and noticed no difference between stock and tuned. Talked with Bully Dog and then was told that they don't have programming for the Sonic...so not sure why it's listed on their website. I guess it just puts you through the motions of installing a tune but doesn't actually do anything? It does function nicely as a gauge though as I do like to be able to see coolant temp, boost, and throttle percentage.

Would be nice to see custom programming with the Bully Dog as I know personally their Powersports gauge works well for the Polaris RZRs and AXYS snowmobiles.

No, it was a free unit they had sent me so that's why it didn't bother me (the company I work for is a dealer/distributor for Bully Dog). I keep telling them they should get programming figured out for the 1.4L Sonic but unfortunately it'll probably never happen because they don't think there's a market for them. They're pretty busy keeping up with the bigger HP market.

I am happy with it as a gauge though. Boost, coolant temp, intake temp, timing, throttle, etc. is really nice to be able to view which makes it worth it just for all that.
