I saw this video. It is a cool vehicle !
How did you know when it went into limp mode ?
I ask only because I don't know what to look for.

Stock turbo isn't big enough to support 200hp, but it could be very close with a full custom exhaust, which they are using in that application. It's possible they are using calculated flywheel numbers, which is only 175ish whp

They're not making that kind of power. They asked us to develop a tune for their stuff because they weren't happy with the current tune making 140WHP. We gave them a tune that got them into the 180WHP 240WTQ range but they refused to pay what we wanted for them to put the tune on over 100 cars. So they are stuck with their 140HP and false advertising.

The chip from Cruze 1.4L, 153 hp engine?
Is it possible to install the computer chip from the 153hp Chevy Cruze 1.4l engine into the 1.4l 138hp Sonic? And will it produce 153hp in the Sonic?
Seems like a simple upgrade if the chips are interchangeable!

The days of easily swapping around control modules from vehicle to vehicle have been over for a while. Control modules are all programmed with the VIN which locks them to a specific car, and even swapping modules from the same exact model of car will cause you big problems without reprogramming.
That's not entirely true Stew, mostly yes, but not entirely.
It is a different motor all together though. If I remember right, the exhaust manifold is integral to the head on those, much like the 2.0T.

I assumed the engines were the same with 1.4L and turbo charger. But with different pounds of turbo boost, higher compression ratio and different control module. And by reprogramming the control module you could alter these on the Sonic 1.4L engine.
Does the Cruze 1.4 engine require premium fuel?

The updated 1.4 is dfi, where the previous was not. Buying a tune will achieve what you're hoping to do, besides a stock ecu will run you a few thousand vs a few hundred for a tune

Even when I left the dealer world back in 2007, if you tried swapping the ECM between two new vehicles you were left with two vehicles that wouldnt even start without programming being done first. Everything is programmed with a specific VIN in it now. If the VIN from one module is off compared to the others the vehicle may or may not work right depending on what module has the incorrect VIN. Sometimes its just the specific module that wont work and sometimes its more modules up to and including all that will refuse to cooperate until the incorrect VIN issue is corrected.
