Getting treated like garbage at dealership..

The paint was flaking off my bumper so I brought it back to the dealership I bought it from. Which was Grossinger Chevorlet in Palatine Illinois and they only made it worse. I got my car back with more damage than when it left. The paint was flaking under the headlight on the top lip of the bumper. The body shop they sent it to bent the fender tip in to paint the top of the bumper instead of removing it. I went to go pick it up today and the fender is still bent, I have an even worse tape line and my car looks like ****. Now they are arguing with me that they aren't going to do anything more like I caused the problem. The service guy gave me attitude like I didn't matter because it was a less expensive car. This place just burned me off of buying a new gm car ever again and I will for sure let everyone know how I got treated like a door mat and how they damaged my car worse than what it was. I'm almost pissed off enough to fix it myself.... Someone from GM customer service please help fix my car !!!

First time dealing with someone who screwed up?

You politely ask for the Manager. If he refuses to own up to their mistake, you start taking photos and raise your voice in an authoritative tone. You ask them if they will sign an affidavit that they broke your car and refuse to fix it. You ask them if they would prefer to replace your car with a new one. You start calling your relative at the papers. You get an estimate for repairs at a shop of your choosing and send them an invoice. You take them to small claims court with the evidence in hand.

Or you can just make a rukus in their show room a few days in a row asking for someone to fix the damage they caused.

Or .... you could take the car to another dealer with a better service department. Preferably one that has it's own paint shop. It should be under warranty.

No matter where you go "people" work there. People screw up, it's one of those human things.

Is it possible your car was one of those unlucky cars that got damaged in transpo and the bumper was repainted half ass? my friend had it happen with his hyundai, he made a huge fuss when the dealer wouldn't budge and they ended up having to give him a new vehicle for not letting him know the car was previously damaged.

I worked in a customer service field for 9 years, I know how to handle myself. I'm already at the service manager.. He " has done all he can do". Now I'm debating on just leaving it there until its fixed 100%. I have a rental car that they gave me so it's not a big deal for me vehicle wise. I'm thinking today I'm going to call the bank and tell them I no longer have possession of the vehicle and that it was damaged by the dealership and they refuse to repair it back to proper condition.

Yeah I guess that 'bumper to bumper' warranty doesn't cover everything. As I have already realized customer service is DEAD in this country(U.S.). It is rare to find a business that actually has customer service none the less a car dealer with that.

I remember when I bought my Sonic I brought it in WITHIN 24 hours of purchasing the car to get the mirror fixed. It had a defect where there was a 2" by 4" mark on the passenger mirror. Dealer person was like 'thats a scratch'. I was like 'I haven't even owned this car for 24 hours and you are blaming me for this?' Then I got the salesman who just sold me the car there and he backed me up saying that I just purchased the car and it was brand new. Then the dealer person went to talk to their manager and about 20minutes later they decided to order the part for me. From my experience any chance the car dealer has to screw you over/make more money they will take that opportunity.

You aren't the only one who has a bad experience with Chevrolet Service dept... Ever since I start bringing my car to them (Ancira Winton Chevrolet) when my car started getting a bit of hiccups in the automatic transmission the service dept has neither gave a care and has always been rude and didn't fix the issue.. Funny thing is months later I get into a bad accident partially do to one of these hiccups has their body shop fix everything now the car has less problems which means the problem was solvable and the service dept was just bsing... either way gotta trade up to the RS Sonic once it releases...

It got even better today when I picked my car up. Service manager tried to tells that they wouldn't have fixed the peeling paint on the bumper because I was in a rear end collision. Wtf does that have to do with anything?? I think I'm just going to pull the drivers headlight and fix this myself

I was rear ended... The paint was peeling off the FRONT bumper which has nothing to do with being rear ended. The peeling also started after the car was fixed..

Last I checked the front bumper is connected to the frame of your car. Odd as it may seem if you hit something the force can be felt on the other side of the car. Not sure if you were in the car but did you feel it? If you felt it so did the front of the car.

I would recommend telling your insurance company some paint apparently peeled off on a flexible portion of the car in the accident.

Either way ... I would not assume the dealer is trying to screw you over they may have checked the car over for dmg prior to delivery. If you lean on a flexible bumper sometimes the paint can flex in odd spots. If it's nbg most folks would just touch it up with touch up paint. But then you probably already know this.

Just taking the devils advocate position since they are not here to defend themselves. I suspect they may even have rules against fixing insurance claims pro-bono. Remember they have to report and charge back or it's out of their pocket. If it shows up that you were in an accident how do you figure chevy will pay the dealer, when the insurance company should be doing it?

Well you see, you say you were involved in a rear end collision; you didn't specify which end you were on.

You said the dealership refused service because of said collision; that points that you hit the rear end of someone.

Just to add. I miss the days when we had chrome steel bumpers with hard rubber going around it so you could have small bumps and no damage.

So, I took it in for them to look at it, and the manager tried to be a dick about it, until one of the service techs told him they scratched it when getting it ready for me. I agree with you 100%. Some people on the forum decided to skim posts and guess rather then read the entire post.

Looked like someone had taken a brilo pad to some sticker residue, and when the sun hit it, it looked terrible. So, I took it in for them to look at it, and the manager tried to be a dick about it, until one of the service techs told him they scratched it when getting it ready for me. So they ordered me a new one. Getting it installed friday.

Yeah same EXACT thing happened to me. Didn't see it when I drove off the lot because it was in the shade. But when it was in the sunlight BAM! that mirror showed all of it's flaws that the dealer messed up on.
