Not trying to sidestep Calorim's question but how does one get blanks and have them drilled? I have never seen blanks offered before so I am curious because none of the 5x105 I have seen look good.

There are people on the board running 235/45/17's and they fit fine. .2" of an inch won't make enough difference to worry about (that's only .1" closer to the wheel well or other contact point).
FWIW - 205/50/17's typically are 25.1" and 235/45/17's are typically 25.3" on most tire brands that I am familiar with.

The dimensions you are quoting are the section widths - not the tread widths. The section width is the widest area of the tire.
Tread width is typically about 6" for the 205 and 6.7 for the 235. Remember that the extra .7" is split between the front and the back side of the tire - so you are only .35" closer to the suspension and wheel well.
The folks on the board running this size have all said that they fit fine.
I've been looking up various wheels and I found that 17x8 et30 has been proven to be pretty close to flush. What I'm looking at are 17x8.5 et30 wheels and I was wondering how that would fit and if 5mm spacers would bring it close to flush.

What tire size would fit an 18x8.5 rim that is low profile. Will be on coils soon.
+35A 225/40r18 would be ideal to preserve the original wheel circumference (+0.9% change). A 245/35r18 is even closer to the OE circumference (-0.5% change), but is wider. What offset are your rims?
