Snow rims

Just bought a 2013 sonic RS 6 speed. Want to put some steelie rims on it with snow shoes. Looking for recommendations on rim size. Was thinking of going with the 15" to keep a narrow profile for the winter. Any thoughts?

There is no way to say this without sounding like a jerk, but please take no offense to it... why wouldn't you go down 2?

One reason I can think is that the speedo would be off??

I picked up 16" rims from a Cruze with blizzaks on them from craigslist. Was like $300.

I went from the 2055516 to 1956515 on steels with Goodyear ultragrip brand new from tire rack with lug nuts for about 500 with me picking them up. The tire performs well but you can tell a difference when your driving spirited through the turns.

You can get equivalent size to less than 3% difference( less than 1mph difference at 60)
From the 15 inch rims to the 17....

I went from 17's to 15's snow tires with no issues. 195/60/15 with an overall diameter of 24.21. Factory hankook's are 205/50/17 25.08. ABS, TC, and cruise all work as they should.

My '17 RS came with 16" wheels and I'll be getting snow tires for winter to replace the OEM tires so I'm wondering why you would want to go to a 15" wheel in winter anyway?

More sidewall for those nasty winter potholes. And cost. A set of 15" steel rims and tires vs 17" was just over $200 dollars cheaper. But they are equally as ugly. So why spend more.
