Mylink is something that I wouldn't mind having. I guess I'll have to go see my dealer this weekend and see about placing an order. I'm also going to ask and see if I could NOT get leatherette seats. Probably won't happen, and I would appreciate that coming off the final price, but we'll see.

Not likely, but you don't have to get LTZ to get MyLink if that helps.
Several things will be standard now on LT vs LTZ, look at the RPO codes laborsmith posted and try to piece together an idea.
(The dealer is 99% not likely to have a clue)

Yes it's a 2012. I wanted to get my order before the 2013's started because I do not want the myLink system. I'm gonna be ripping out the stock head unit ASAP anyway.
The rear disc brakes are desirable as well as the sportier geared manual trans on the 2013 RS, but I personally don't care for the restyling of the front fascia.

Yes, I wish I could have just the brakes from the RS, I don't like hatches, nor the color choice restriction.
(Let alone the unkown $ difference between LTZ and RS.)
Don't want MyLink? Hell, I'm *sure* some 2012 owner would take it off your hands.
A fascia redesign? I was unaware. (Unless you mean for *just* the RS)
Anyone have a link? It's hard to imagine them redesigning it after just ONE year!

I despise, abhor, and if I were a priest, I would consign Chevy Connect to the Dantian Inferno where it belongs. As I have repeatedly stated, it is a waste of bandwidth, and a blot on Chevy's attempt to rehabilitate its name. I DO recommend GMConnects. These five volunteers do one heck of a job and if I made a practice of wearing a hat I would take my hat off to them. If I was the one to recommend Chevy "Track My Vehicle" I deeply apologize.
As to the dealer stating 8 weeks, that is possible, not probably, but possible. A lot of this is best guess, and basing the guess and the patterns. I enjoy doing it, but I am not a dealer or a salesperson, just someone kibitzing.

And I added fog lights and vinyl side graphics convinced as I am that each would add 5hp per side. Well maybe not the fog lights for that reason, I added those for instances like last night when I was driving in fog. (They worked well, by the way.) I believe the fascia redesign is to allow functional inlets for the brakes.
I am not a leather seating area person, but the RS will have Ancatara like suede seat inserts, and those inserts are a whole other ball game.
I agree about the uninspired exterior color choices. The paint shop can handle 8 colors, how about Rally Yellow as the eighth color, GM?

06/08/2012 (3300) Order scheduled for production. Order is scheduled into the plant build cycle.
06/22/2012 (3400) Order Broadcast (internal plant paperwork order produced). Order is sent to various build & supplier areas to bring order together.

So, I missed the build week, but your order will be built and on the train by the end of the week. It takes at least a week (the quickest I am aware of) to two weeks to get to the West Coast, offloaded, then at least two days for dispatch to get it shipped. You have a pretty good idea of the time.

Thanks, I did GM Connects. My status from (6-14) hasn't changed-order placed but no allocation. Not sure what this all means, but it seems nothing is happening with my car. So your initial prediction is probably correct-I will not be seeing this car in 8 weeks, since as far as I can tell, it's not being built yet. I am so bummed.... Hope to get it early August, but I am not holding my breath.

2013s Starts 08/06/12. No dealer should have an allocation until either tomorrow or next Thursday, so possibly 07/11/12 you will move to 2000 as of 07/10/12. Look to move to 3000 the following week and then to 3300 shortly thereafter. Sometime after 07/23/12 you could be at 3400: Order is scheduled for production, and at that time the TPP (Tentative Production Week) will be available. I look for your Sonic to be produced sometime during the week of 08/06/12, at which point you will be 3800. Next will be several steps all 4B00, you will undergo a quality inspection, then 4200: shipped.
I look for your Sonic to leave Lake Orion on or shortly after 08/24/12.
The key is when the dealer gets to use their allocations. Retail sold (yours) are picked first. I do not recall what state your dealer is in, but it looks like you could be driving your Sonic before the end of August. Cool!

The transfer to UP takes place near Chicago, if that goes smooth about a week for shipping in transit. It is getting better so your odds today of a smooth transfer are much better than this time in previous years including even last year. Orion will be making 2012 Sonics during the last two weeks of July but as far as I can tell will not start on the 2013 model year until August 6.

Does the allocation to order process happen automatically once GM opens up the ordering? Or do I need to have my dealer take some sort of action?
